Hey DC, I feel Like this is a set up but, I have issues As this is my first post On Rebel I would like to help if I can. Get the electric start working!!!! Using the kick all the time WILL cause other problems!!! Check out Batteries Galore off Nellis near Bonanza. Small, hole in the wall bird sanctuary/ Golf-cart business. 30 bucks for a new Battery that should be good for a few years if properly charged after adding the electrolytes, It's 15$ more at wallyworld for the same thing. Lots of bad and good shops here in town. These 25$ an hour mobile services craigslist repair men are bit flaky as you have learned. Learn to do the work yourself!!!! Is this your first scooter? Just wondering cause it may need a bit of work. Are you gonna ride Thur the winter? As for not moving untill 10mph indicated, I am at a loss. Maybe the gauge is bad easy enough to replace but. Very odd problems your having

Vegas doesn't get really snow and ice cold but, Come Jan/ Feb. anything under like 40 degrees makes for a very unpleasant ride!!!!!! Can I ask what side of town your on?? Henderson/Summerlin ETC... I am about as far North as you can go I'm glad ya got things running normal, Keep up on the maintenance and ride safe!!!!

I live off boulder and flamingo, but i work on durango and d.i. so i ride about 12.5 miles each way, so running the way it was put my ride time somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on how many green lights i caught, now i make it in under 45min

what is the best oil to use for these little guys? conventional? synthetic? regular? motorcycle? I dont have the original owners manual, just the little sticker under the seat and according to that it says to use 15w40 which seems a bit excessive to me considering thats a diesel weight oil, any thoughts on that?

I'll email you a decent owners manual, it is going to the email address you used to register here. Also if you look in my signature at the bottom of my posts, there is a link to owners and shop manuals.

I use Shell Rotella 15-40 diesel year round for the last 3 yrs. on my 50cc ( lots of decent shops do too) I don't really think it's the brand or weight used (any 10/30-10/40 5/etc... is fine) but, The fact you change it often is most important!!!!!!! You have no filter on a 50cc scoot!!!! I change mine out every 500 to 700 miles indicated on the dash. ( it maybe KM not Miles on your scoot) Asking an oil question can open a big can of worms. Synth. Dino, Winter!!?? Do some research, Take a day checking out forums/blogs etc.. Just reading and watching vids. Having a manual is good but, you can learn much more by talking to and reading other peoples experiences IMO. BTW maybe get a windshield to help with the cold. It's coming quick, Just a thought, and thats a decent hours ride to work at freezing temps. Every little bit helps!!!! Pm me if ya want some other links to useful sites

I agree with bong. frequent changes is your best insurance. Asking what oil is the best to use is almost like asking about religion to some people.
I suggest whatever your favorite name brand is and frequent changes of 5w-30, 10w-30, 5w-40 and you are good to go. Keep the redlining to a minimum.

that was about the answer i expected to get for that question however no one addressed weather or not to use regular car oil or a four stroke motorcycle oil

also, its not a terribly big deal seeing that i have a battery charger pretty much everywhere i go, but I will start with this, I am now confident that my battery is in fact in good condition, however the scoot will not maintain the charge, after about an hour and a half or so i basically have no battery left and i go dark until i am moving, with that being said the condition appears to not be related to the stator if my understanding of the charging system is correct, so does that mean my rectifier is bad? or is it indeed the stator?

Just use regular car oil. Dino or synth.. That's your call. Cycle oil is overkill and a little to pricey considering it needs to be changed so often IMO. Sounds like maybe a bad R/R (rectifier/ regulator). You can swap that out with minimal effort. Maybe the pickup? The stator will cost quit a bit to replace so, I hope that's not the problem.

Are you lights all standard?
These little 50cc scooters have a small margin of error when it comes to how much power they can keep up with for draining the battery of its juice.
If you are discharging the battery after running it for and hour and a half and have an upgraded headlight or installed something else electrical, you may just be asking more than the system can handle.
Regarding the oil, sorry, i thought we made it fairly clear, use the oil you want to, change it often. I do use a car oil in mine.
