I'm getting plenty of ideas I just don't have a shop and I live in a trailer park...yeah I'm part redneck....But my house is paid for...lol
I'm likely going to have to figure out how to fix the existing tank at this point. I don't want to keep throwing money at stuff and getting nowhere fast.
I found a motorcycle website but most of the tanks all look like they are going to be too big and I can't keep paying full rate with no results that work.
Thanks yet again guys.

...harbor freight has a panel spot welder....aka pinch welder uses no rod or wire idk how much it costs but its how they do it in the factory. As far as shop ect goes lol I live in a trailer...well expanded one lol I just got lucky built two storage sheds and my shop is out back like a small garage came with the house we are working for an actual building I'm still in the getting customers and startup phase lol (moved here 6yrs ago lost everything before that house fire govt budget cuts ect) and I'll agree with ya a home is a home esp one u can afford. I hope it all works out sometimes projects like these can be frustrating just ...sometimes esp in an anxiety predicament it takes getting away from to come up with fixes I've at least found....but enough about me I don't mean to take over here...I'd agree welding is about the only way and fixing the orig as nothing beats oem. Spot welding is pretty easy if u wanted to give it a try just make sure its thick enough ect

I used a cotton rope and it appears that I have gotten the rest of the gas out of the tank, now what?

I would wash it with just a decent detergent to get any residual coating cleaned out. Then see a welding shop about fixing the crack.

Yeah, I found a local welder who will attempt it if I get the gas out but it is going to screw up my paint job...And I'm not sure how much it will cost me to have him fix it. My therapist thinks I should just purchase another bike...I'm thinking about it

I spoke to several of my trusted advisers on this end and I'm considering giving up on the chopper and purchasing something new...I seen an Ice Bear Trike I am liking...I can't make up my mind...

Well if the paint is the tipping point no doubt welding on it will ruin it in that area.
If you have the cash buying a new one would be best, now I like ice bear but it is still a Chinese bike and will not be as reliable as any Japanese bike. Since you are a mechanic in training, I suggest going with a Japanese ride.

Any dealers that sell trikes? I'm not keen on a two wheeler version.

As you can see I can't make my mind up about much. I lived for many years not thinking for myself for one reason or another and now that I have to do it...I can never make up my mind...

The problem with fixing it up for selling is that you will probably just have too much money in it to get a good return on investment. If you can patch the tank up and have it running for very little you would come out better than spending $110.00 on another tank

I just don't know how to fix what I cannot see. It's likely that using a sealant won't find the leak and stop it up.
I had a guy interested in getting it but only if he could trade even up for something I didn't want...
Sorry but at this point I'd rather put it in the dump than give it away without at least getting something out of that new motor I just put on it...
