Thanks for the review on the 2 vrs 4 stroke day out. I road next to one 150 (probably stock restricted) and i could cruise right away from him from a stop, rolling, up a big hill, not sure about top end. He was a little guy to, im about 165 now and he was smaller than me. Restricted scooters are way to slow though. I would be happy to race your scooter for you sir lol. Love to let ya ride mine too. My unle weighs about 210 and it hauls pretty good with him on it.

This makes me wonder just how bad I could stomp the stock scoots if I weighed the same as them... not that it matters... I'll never be a 160lb guy.

Im so impressed by how fast your scooter is at your weight i brag about you and your bad ass 100cc Minareli clone beast to my friends all the time, and ive never even met you. I admire what you have done with your Triton. Most guys your size wouldnt even bother tuning one like you have. Man you took a 50cc(well a stock stroked one) based scooter and made it run over 60mph with 280# on it. That is the sh!it! I bet there are very few, if any other guys that have done that. There is no way my scooter will do 60 with me and my son on it, and thats at 230#. You rock Brent, i look up to you for your talent.

Thanks for the compliments. I know a lot of big guys (and small ones for that matter) think a scooter just isn't worth messing with. One of my friends that rides a sportbike keeps saying I need to get a sportbike. He tells me that as big as I am I need a liter bike at least. I said dude, I ride 50s. lol If I needed to go as fast as I can I wouldn't be on scooters. I enjoy riding, I enjoy modding, and I enjoy the price difference in the scooter and his $10,000+ bike. The same friend was riding another friend's 150 with me over the weekend and I took him down 30 miles of back roads. When we got back he said that was fun and he only wished it was warmer (we rode late at night) so we could be more confident about the tires sticking. I didn't bother to say anything because I know I can't get anywhere, but I was thinking, "...and both of these scooters and their mods cost less than a quarter of what your bike does." The thing is, I started out on tiny little bikes and loved modding them. Scooters are a street legal way for me to continue to mess with small bikes. If I could get away with it, I'd still be riding around my modded midbikes. Oddly enough the same friend used to ride midbikes with me. He owned an X18 and I helped him with some mods to make it go from 48MPH stock to 63MPH. He also loved riding my modded cateye. He forgets how fun these little things are. Here he is on his X18 racing my friend's F150 with me filming. He's in other videos of mine on youtube and myspace riding his bike and different bikes of mine, almost always with a smile on his face. vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=13948225Oh, and to be fair... I have gone as fast as 61.69MPH, but that was with fairings and tucked. Now I usually cruise between 50-55MPH sitting up. I havent got it faster than 58-59MPH tucked since the lack of fairings.

You rock Brent, i look up to you for your talent. X2. And in addition to the insight and expertise, you can write. Clear, concise, no bullsh*t - once I've read one of your explanations, I understand. A rare talent for lean and solid exposition; great entertainment value, and a great technical resource. Props.

I was coming through my town tonight at about 1AM doing the 25MPH speed limit. I saw a Sheriff coming out of a side road at a stop sign. I passed by him crackling away just over idle and he pulled out behind me. He came up on my quick and hit the lights as I exited town. I pulled over, shut the scooter off, and stood up. Cop : "How's it goin'?" Me : "Alright I guess. What's up?" Cop : "I pulled you over to see what you're riding. What do you call this thing?" Me: "It's a scooter." Cop : "It's a scooter?" Me : "Yeah. I broke some body panels and I was too cheap to replace them so I did this." Cop : "Man, I thought it was a dirtbike. It sounded like a dirtbike coming through town." (Looking at my pipe.) Me : "Nope. Just a scooter." He looked it over with his flashlight for a minute and then asked how far I was going. I was only 1/2 mile from home when he pulled me over. He said, "Ah. You're good man. Have a nice night." lol It amused me. Not sure what difference it made how far I was drving it though. Earlier tonight another scooter pulled out into the lane with me as I passed. He fell into formation and followed me kind aclose through town. We got to the 30MPH zone and he stayed right on me. The speed limit turned to 50MPH and I pulled into the shoulder. He stayed in the lane and started coming up on me to pass. I twisted the throttle and I couldn't find him again. It's like he just disappeared.

He disappeared? You mean your carb sucked him up and burned him up into nothing??

Possibly? Maybe a black hole? It was actually David Copperfield out for a scoot ride? He hit 88MPH and tore through the space-time continuum? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? The world may never know.

How many twists of a throttle does it take to get to the end of the fun??? The world may never know....lol Glad you had fun, and amused a cop in the meantime.

Got another nail in another rear tire. At least I managed to get over 2,000 miles on this tire in the last 2 months. I ordered a spare last time so I popped it on and ordered another one for next time. I ordered a 140/70P13 to try instead of the 130/70P13. It should be about 1/2" taller and 10mm wider. Maybe good for an extra 1/2MPH top speed lol.

I hope it's the last tire for a while, but given my history with tires it's highly unlikely. My friend just got a nail in the rear tire of his CBR and I took him to get it replaced Friday. Same type of nail, same length. I got mine after riding in Chincoteague though.

After seeing 2strokd's boost bottle pics and hearing that it worked for him, I made one for my scoot. I made it out of PVC and it should be very close to my engine's displacement. I'll post more detailed how-to later. I picked the worst day to mess with a boost bottle. I got the bottle finished and before I installed it I wanted to take a ride to be sure I gave a fair before and after comparison. It's a good thing I did, because the scooter is running terrible today. I would have thought the boost bottle was awful. It ran just fine last time I rode, but today is warmer and now it wants to bog bad if I open the throttle quickly. I tried swapping the needle clip from the most lean to the most rich and it makes no difference. I stuck the boost bottle on to see if it had any affect. As soon as I started the scooter I could tell a difference. The idle was higher. I took it for a quick ride and it seemed like midrange power may have improved slightly, but the throttle response was still terrible. I need to pull the plug and see if it's running rich now or what. The Dellorto is a nice carb, but since adding the 25mm it is finicky with weather changes. I like the power, but I do miss my old mild 70cc with stock carb, jets, and filter. That thing could keep the same tune year round. Maybe I should just go back to the stock airbox, after opening it up a little perhaps?
