well no luck at the auction and a lack of work has kept the funds low but the work is still in progress i will end up using a polini bore that i have laying around i think im going to enlarge the exhasut port just a bit to see if i can get it to make some good power today i ordered a new throttle tub so i can do away with the yamaha push pull crap and use my arreche 19mm carb on this build so i have to order a new throttle cable still and new bearings for the up gears and rethink my rad bracket right now the way i built it it will only have 1 point where it mounts to the fram i thought there was a second bolt hole in that area but i was wrong

ok well still waiting for the parts from spi but i was out there kinda putcing around as i bought some more flat stock to make the rad brackets and found the second mounting point for my rad mounts
one will be a bolt hole on the down tube and the other will be the brace work for my push bar dam i knew that push bar would serve a purpose other then making my scooter look good

still waiting on the parts but when i was going thru a box of parts i have from a job the guy backed out of i found a cable and some reeds so when the parts get here ill have to throw them back in that box incase the guy ever comes to get the parts he paid for so i got the 19mm carb on and the throttle cable ran 1/2 ass its not the same part number so im not running it and zip tieing till i get the one i ordered to see if there is a diffrence the single cable throttle tube seems to work great then i got to hacking on the body some more and makeing rad mounts

no i had to remove the parts of the leg sheild for clearnce not just air flow where the upper hose will go into the rad is actauly out into the leg shield area heck i had to cut some of the floor board out to get the rad far enough back i wasnt happy with the lack of clearance if i used the steering lock i could barley slide a pice of paper between the rad and the forks now i have a full inch with the front end compressed and the handle bars turned to lock
yeah had it just been air flow i wouldnt have cut a big hole
i have to do something about the seat release cable hopefully there is engouh slack to zip tie it to the down tube

well today i polished the piston head and the exhasut port on the used polini kit i have i wish i could find my junk trophy bore to compare the exhast ports the one on the polini seems small acatuly about the same size as the stock bore
but i went to figure my squish and my digital calipers took a crap on me so i have to wait till i get to work tomorrow and grab my dial calipers
i tried measureing with a dial inticator set up in a slip fit set up and if thats right with no gaskets my squish is 0.91 mm not what i wanted
but i want to double check it with my dial calipers
and i find out the temp guage that i have wont work the sender is busted off and its the wrond thread to fit in the hole the guy i got the used parts from looked like they tried to use a car guage

The Polini sport kits aren't too racy on the exhaust ports. Never seen an LC version, but the AC versions have room for improvement. If you look at a sport vs corsa for the AC Minarelli, basically all they do is move the ports up a mm to make it racier. I might have some timing numbers around somewhere. EDIT : Sorry, I never got the degree wheel out or at least never posted the numbers last time I installed one.

thanks i didnt realize i never set up an account on your board but then again i have a lot of things going i signed up now ill try and stop by every now and then
and by looking at the few maps over there it confirmed what i thought about that bore and now i will go back in
i figureed i could get away with rasieng the exhaust 1mm and im proably going to widen it proably 5 to 6 mm
when i bring home my dial calipers tomorrow ill be able to get some measurments off the ehxasut port i think for a street scoot thats about all i want to mess with

A note on those maps, those are not measured as chord width. They are measured flat . The one I made was before I knew that chord width was the proper way to measure a port. You can shoot for as much as 70% of the bore diameter for chord width, but the wider you go the more the more likely it is for a ring to snag or for them to wear fast. Myself and some other fellas at my forum have been going for low to mid 60% range with good results for our street stuff.
If you are sure what exhaust you are going to use for a while, you may want to port match to the exhaust.
What squish numbers were you hoping for BTW? .9mm wouldn't be bad for an AC 70. I know you can get away with less clearance/more compression with LC stuff though.

i was hopeing to get to .8 or .7 right now with no gaskets at all it looks like i may be at .91 but my caliper died so i gota get to the shop and get my good old dial calipers out down side is i will have to conver inches to mm for now being i have a stock crank i have a lv zx laying around in my parts bin that i will be useing trying to keep the high mileage stock crank alive for another season i know its not the best pipe out there but its what i have laying around

I know lots of tuners don't like the ZX, but it serves it's purpose. It's a good sport pipe IMO. Makes better low end power to be more streetable than the race pipes. My last motor has a custom built pipe that hits hard once you get to 8,000RPM or so. It's amazing for going fast, but I'd take my ZX any day for a scoot I've gotta ride much and don't want tons of attention on.
