ouachita - Since I'm getting old and mainly retired, the parts are rusting out and I'm starting to depreciate in value. At least I know that if anything happens to me, she's taken care of. Of course with this whole healthcare thing and Sarah Palin's "death panels" & putting people to sleep at 65, I'd better go have fun. Got a future trip planned out. The Stony Creek that I talked about in my post was essentially dead due to mine drainage for most of my 60 years. In the past 10 there's been a major effort to clean it up. I found one great hole (trout + smallmouth) and scouted one on Sunday. 15 minutes from the house and hardly anyone fishes it. Pretty water. Hip boots fit under the seat, I have a pack rod, vest and creel go in the trunk. I need to find a place to chain the scoot. Here's a couple pics of my favorite stretch and a typical rainbow I caught last trip out. I had to share the pool with an osprey - too cool.

I called Dr. Mom to tell her I was headed back home. She suggested that I try US 219. It always seems a little strange when she encourages me to ride the super slab. You would be surprised at how many 60+ biker couples we meet on the open road. Just because she's spent here entire adult life 'doing the right thing' for the sake of the children...career blah..blah...doesn't mean she doesn't secretly desire to just hop on the back of a motorcycle with a biker dude and ride off to parts unknown.

Jeez Harry - In addition to being a college professor, she's a Psychologist by training - secret desire? ? Uh-huh. Oh well, we're getting a little old for leather dress-up fantasies. I got her to ride around the neighborhood once. You're right about us senior citizens and riding though.

Contacted MRP and they suggested the 17gr Sliders. Think I will order them next weekend. Told me to hold off on any other mods until the sliders are swapped out.

I'd prolly order a couple of sets of cheap rollers and find the optimum weight before forking out for the sliders. The powerband on the engine is fairly narrow...which is normal for a higher performance engine. It seems to me that my acceleration from 70-80 is better then from 60-70.

A Silverwing is 180 pounds heavier then an MS3. If the width is still at least 22.5mm and there isn't any cracking then the belt is still good. You should get at least 12,000 miles out of the belt. But it really depends on how you drive. I'm ride mostly mountainous terrain and expect to have extra wear...not seeing any signs of it though.

Did the 12,000 km service today.
Valves still where they were at 4,000km, on the left side .005 intake and .009 exhaust and and the right side .004 intake and .008 exhaust.
Belt is 23.95 mm wide, still well within the 22.5mm service limit.
Did notice the o-ring for the oil drain plug, the rubber washers for the valve cover and the diptick were a little sad...so ordered replacements.

Anyone still riding an MS3 250? Yes but having charging rectifier regulator issues any solutions?
