Just a little update on the idling issue.
I just finished reading my Silverwing owners manual. It is EFI and the idle speed needs to be adjusted every 4,000 miles. This is something that surprised me as the Hyosung manual is somewhat silent on idle speed adjustment.
In any case...the idle speed on the Silverwing needs to be adjusted when the bike is hot. Honda recommends at least 10 minutes of hard stop and go riding before attempting to set the idle speed.
Over on the Harley forum's there is a lot of talk how the EFI actually works. Apparently there is an 'open loop' idle mode that only works when the bike is hot...the ECU ignores the O2 sensor and just goes to a pre programmed 12-1 Air fuel mixture in an attempt to cool the engine.
So if I combine what the Harley guys are saying with what Honda is saying then the idle speed screw actually does have a purpose for when the bike is in 'open loop' idle mode...which only occurs when the bike is hot which coincides with the stalling incidents I was having.

Bolts came in from suzuki for the disk rotor...manage to get the last bolt out by heating it up with a mapp gas torch. new bolts seems to be painted blue...probably blue loctite...rather then red. All went back together fine.

Well if ya had been riding around with a thong ya probably would have got some pretty interesting help with the stripped bolt!! LOL JR Yep...I could have gotten our good friends Lea's father to come by...a few years back he decided he wanted to be a woman and had his kick stand removed. Not sure I want that kind of help. I should clarify..first he started wearing brassieres, then thongs...then he had his kickstand cut off.

Since the original intent of this thread is for the Unitied Motors Xpeed 250i experience I'll jump in with my experience with the Hyosung MS3 - same scooter, different name.
I purchased my scooter used with 1205 miles on it and my first riding experience with it was thw 100 mile trip home from Hot Springs, AR to Camden, AR via Hwy 7. Considering that all my previous scooter riding was on a Honda Ruckus, that was quite a jump up. It's not comparing apples and oranges so much as apples and watermelons.
After putting about 500 mile on the MS3 it developed a clatter when engaging the starter so back to Hot Springs we went where it was determined that the starter clutch had a couple of teeth broken. It was repaired under warranty (still have about a year of warranty left) and I was told that Hyosung has been having problems with that particular part and are replacing it with a heavier design. The only other problem I have had is with the plastic front leg shield and leg shield cover cracking. This looks like the scooter may have suffered some trauma that wasn't apparent when I purchased it and didn't crack out into an exposed area until it was ridden enough for vibration and road bumps to extend the damage. A mechanically inclined friend and I repaired the damage with epoxy, fiberglass bondo, and spray paint. No big deal, just a cosmetic nuisance I didn't want to get bigger.
Performance is great! The machine starts easily and I have had it up to 81.7 mph as measured on level ground with GPS. I weigh about 245 lb and the speed was still creeping up when I shut down to accomodate a curve and oncoming traffic. MPG so far has ranged from a low of 66 mpg to a high of 73 mpg with a consistent average around 69/70 mpg. I have run 87 and 91 octane and have not noticed any difference in performance but have not done any controlled rides to check, so take that info for what its worth.
The scoot seems stable and controlled on the road with buffeting from the big trucks and other traffic more of a nuisance than a real hazard but keep in mind that I am not a very experienced scooter rider. I do think that Hyosung needs to come out with a better windshield or at least someone needs to develop a bigger aftermarket windshield. Just a couple of inches taller and maybe a little wider would probably do wonders. I'm only 5' 8" and I do get a good bit of helmet buffeting.
The scooter rides cool. In high 90's to 100 degree plus weather it routinely stays at 2 bars on the temperature gauge and only goes to 3 bars on 1. high speed runs; 2. riding during the very hottest part of the day (2:00p - 5:00p) or; 3. extended idling. When I bought it the dealer changed all the fluids and used Amsoil 10w40. I recently changed the oil and switched to Castrol 5W50 and the bike seems to run even cooler - the bike go about twice as far after a cold start to get to 2 bars than before. Next oil change I'm going to switch to Delvac or Rotella 5w40 commercial oil and see what happens.
Overall I am very pleased with the MS3. It's fast, responsive, and economical. The dealer I purchased it from and Hyosung have been very good with no hassle warranty work. The only real aggarvation I have is with the dearth of aftermarket maintainence and accesory items. If Hyosung would come out with a 400cc class EFI machine with a little more attention to the tupperware and ergonomics I think I'd have to seriously consider moving up.
For the price range I don't think you can beat the deal of the MS3/Xpeed 250i.
BTW, have any of you noticed how a lot of people seem to hate being passed by a scooter? LOL

ouachita,
Welcome to the forum, nice to have some more 250cc scooter people. Are you running the stock tires on your? You might see an improvement in handling and buffeting with a tire upgrade. I'm sure jr can fill you in on the skinny about that.

Hey Harry! Followed you over here from the dawgs. Seems like my dealer advised me to run regular 87 octane gas in the MS3 when I bought it. When I put 93 octane in her, the rpms went up, and man, does it like premium for power! The manual does say 91 octane or higher...now I believe it!
Tomorrow I'm going to run it on the freeway and see if the top end is higher that the previous 80 registered...

Tomorrow I'm going to run it on the freeway and see if the top end is higher that the previous 80 registered... GPS says I did 84 once....and yeah she was still climbing...but I ain't taking no curve at 25 MPH over the speed limit.

Glad to be here. I'm still running the stock tires on it. No problem with scraping the kickstand on curves but didn't know that tires could affect buffeting. I'm certainly interested in recommendations for tires so when it's time to replace I have an idea what to look for.
Someday when I have a free day or two I'll have to ride up and visit jr. It'd only be about a 150 mile one way trip through some interesting country.

Hey guys - I jumped too. It's good to see so many familiar names. Harry - I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT YOU AND A THONG. Dr. Mom's off to a conference for a couple days so I think I'll do something exciting like change the oil on the Xpeed then go for a ride. We may have 3 nice days in a row.

OK. Dr. Mom's gone for a few days. I promised that I'd re-caulk around the bathtub. I needed to stop up at campus and check my mail. I wanted to do the 600 mile oil change on the Xpeed. It's a beatiful morning so I decide that I'm going to get some miles in. Hit campus, checked mail - still no CD with the new instructor's materials that I order 10 days ago and "would have it in about 5 days". Are we talking drop-ship scooters here? Anyhow, took the nice back road from campus out to the state road. Got it up to 50. Ran out to the next little village and caught one of the back roads to the next little town. It's a fun road. Once you're past the houses, the limit goes to 55 and there's fun curves and hills. The only draw back is you go up a hill and have to cross some rough railroad tracks. Go thru the next town and catch the 4 lane. Crossed 2 more sets of really rough tracks. Got on the 4 lane and opened it up to 60. Fun! Went to the UM dealer and got my oil and a new filter. Left at the same time as another guy on a big Triumph. Back down the 4 lane, opened up to 65 in the "safe" stretch (no speed traps). It was definitely fun riding along with the Triumph. I don't think he thought that little scooter could do it. Went back the way I came, stopped at Walmart and got my caulk. Came home and changed my oil and filter. I got a little over 25 miles in which is the longest ride since I hurt my knee back in May. It was warm enough that I even got in the pool for a bit. I also meet a woman who lives a block away who rides a Wildfire 150. Gave her a handout for the club I'm trying to start.
All in all a great day. Good things must end - today is gray, cloudy and rain in the forecast.

Glad to see your able to get back and do aome riding astroprof!
Does anyone here have any experience with changing out the rollers on your MS3/Xpeedi? All I can find on the topic so far is a youtube video where ScooterMaven of MRP reviews the scooter and talks about it's 23X18 rollers from MRP or the sliders from Dr. Pulley. No mention of what the OEM weight is or recommendations for weights for different performance criteria. All I can find mentioned in the manual is a service limit of 20mm OD for the rollers - no mention of weights.
The ScooterMaven video also mentions an aftermarket "202 Uni-Clutch" (sp?) but I can't seem to locate that specific beast. Anybody got a clue or at least suspect what the correct numbers are and where the clutch might be found? I don't need them now but someday I will, or at least will want to experiment.
I'm still new to this so any input from the Wise Ones Who Rebel will be received with graditude.
