Check this out. Is this the beginning of the end for the cheap scooter? www.the33tv.com/news/kdaf-scooters-seized-story,0,6084741.story I have a serious problem with people who act like they know what's good for me, while their main objective is to line their own pockets by eliminating the competition. Like Mr Scooter dealer who is so very concerned about my safety. I'm sure he can't sleep at night because of worry. Maybe I should call him and tell him I'm ok?

it's the beginning of the end for carburetor scooters.
Will be just like cars went...first EPA took away any ability to adjust the carb. Then in order to keep the car running right the manufacturer's had to put in an O2 sensor and an idle control solenoid.
By the time you tack on a O2 sensor and a computer to manage the idle speed/mixturesolenoid to a carburetor you might as well have fuel injection.

Rebel - maybe it's part of health care reform. Think of all the saved ER visits.
I saw a thing yesterday (MSNBC I think) that GM's going to start building Caddies and Chevies in China. Are our cars next?

I know that GM had an agreement to build Buicks there, before they got the bail out and that deal fell though, I think the Chinese got all they needed to build their own Buicks out of that deal.
The next video we will see will be one of the feds stopping illegal entry of all GM products at the border, seized in huge shipping cargo bins. Sub standard fuel lines and fuel tanks, not in compliance with EPA, DOT and CARB standards.

Oh goodie!
I'll BET that Vespa dealer was "concerned" about people buying $900 Chinese scoots while he's selling multi-thousand buck Vespas...
Wish folks would be more concerned with little things like the 40% of cages on Dallas streets not being registered, 1-out-of-4 cars on the freeway being stolen... Well, I suppose not having the right sticker on the rubber fuel lines poses MUCH more danger to the public than criminals...
Well, next step is a government appointed "scooter czar". Maybe they can dig up the bozo who was in charge of putting diapers on cows to reduce their "emissions". That one sort of died on the vine.
Now, I wonder where can I get one of them Chinese Buicks?
Too much government going on here I think...
Stay safe and enjoy the ride!

It used to state: Government by people for the People!! Not 445 people in government jobs making the rule for all of the nations people at their descretion!! The government should fear the people!! Not people fear the government!! Am I saying over throw it?Hell no!! We the people need to tune it up, just like our scoots!! MOP,limit how long a person can be a Congressman or a Senator ,15 yr. in out 8 yr. out. Most are lifers, that's easy to get corrupted!!That's my 2 cents! rh

Certainly they have to be on the hill for a while to get corrupted. I've been voting for almost 40 years and have noticed over time that a new representative has to be on the hill for at least 6 hours before they are corrupted.

Doug - you're ignoring the concept of original sin. They were corrupt long before they got there.

I don't mind a little sinning, it's the corruption that has me upset.

I don't mind a little sinning, it's the corruption that has me upset. Reminds me of a parable I learned when I lived in japan. The Nigerian minister of transportation visits the Japanese minister of transportation in his penthouse office in a 30 story office building. The Japanese minister of transportation points out the window at a 10 lane highway, earthquake proof, sunami proof etc from the Airport to downtown Tokyo and proclaims loudly proclaims "I built that" and whispers "and managed to keep 2% of the cost for myself" The Nigerian minister of transportation laughs and says you must visit my country. So the Japanese minister of transportation goes to Nigeria and meets the Minister of transportation in a tin shack in the middle of nowhere...the Nigerian minister points out thru the hole in the wall at wasteland and loudly proclaims..."I built that for $10 billion dollars and kept 100% of the cost for myself". Personnally, I would rather have the corrupt politician who manages to build a useful road or something.
