I love the Honda Cub and clones. If you are into photo books, I highly recommend "Bikes of Burden" it is all photos of Honda Cubs and clones in Vietnam hauling all sorts of things, from families of five to refrigerators, to hundreds of geese, plate glass mirrors, etc...

Those look more like the actual mopeds to me, lacking the pedals, than a cub clone. They are pretty cheap and the one Big Guy ("big guy" or "rich" deserted the forum soon after this thread was started and deleted all his post before he left, the refered to post is below in the form of a quote) posted had a 110cc version. Now if you can find one with a dual range tranny like the honda trail 90/110 had that would be really interesting. On the other hand, I've seen a 125cc motor for these and that would help a lot in the power side of things.
Some of you may have read about a bike coming from fly called a Bravo, it was going to be a actual cub look alike seems it hit a bump in the road and has been delayed. That was going to be a great looking cub clone.

Wildfire motors has been selling these for years, but not at that price! They can be had on Wildfire's eBay page though for much less than on the site. I think their reserve price is $410 on the 50cc. -Rich All I care about is mine are made by Bashan. I'll get the usual speech about all Chinese stuff is the same, but I don't care. My scooter is a Bashan and has been pretty good for an "online menace", I expect these bikes to hold up as well. Since everything is out in the open it all looks good to me. Wires, connectors and hoses are all solid. They shift well and run about as good as you can ask a 50cc four stroke to go.

I never owned an actual Cub, but did own several Trail 90s and 110s and one "push rod 90cc", they had the same or extremely similar body. They were about as bullet proof as something like this could be and it will always have a warm spot in my heart. If a 125cc version of this were to come out I'd look very hard at buying it. Now the other old Honda I really liked was the Scrambler, I had a 160cc Scrambler, only because I could not find a 305, but it was a joy to ride.

I mounted a big milk crate on the back of one of the mopeds after removing the passenger seat and am using it for milk and egg runs. It's kind of neat, if a trifle slow, to buzz into town on. I'm going to use it through the winter, if possible, to beat the increase in gas prices. They seem to be getting over 80 mpg, a darn sight better than the car's 30 mpg.

I'm running it easy to break it in so this might not be accurate. I just checked gas mileage and got 137 mpg. Later it will drop as I throttle it up but heck, I'll take 100 mpg.

Sounds great, I know I used to run my little 90cc Hondas all day long and not use a tank of gas.

I was looking through this site yesterday and saw this: www.countyimports.com/inc/sdetail/22967I called their 800 number and talked to a sales guy. I said, "I've got two of these and I can tell you they're not automatics. That lever you're looking at on the picture is not a brake pedal." Whoever they're buying them from said they were auto on the specs. I'll bet it said the clutch was automatic and they didn't read any further. I told him it shifted like a SYM Symba. Let's see how long it takes to fix it. Not only that, but mine don't do 45-50 mph either.

how fast does yours go?
And what does he think that little lever is down there by the left foot peg, a toe/heel rest?

I've taken them up to 30 mph, but no higher, I'm still breaking them in. I would think they're good for about 40 though. They're only 50cc, for heavens sake. 50 mph would make them as fast as a 150cc scooter. Three horsepower doing 50 mph, it doesn't make sense. Downhill in neutral maybe, on a mountain road, with a tailwind....

Don't let the size of that little motor fool you. I had a buddy in high school that had a 50cc cub and it would go close to as fast as the 90cc ones would, just took a little more distance to get there.

If my kids come home with speeding tickets I'll be both surprised and annoyed. The speed limit in the local Village is 30 mph so they could exceed that pretty easily then. I've had the things doing 30 at not much more than half throttle. When they get to 200 miles I want to drop the oil, check the drive chains and valve clearances.

I finally got the black one up to 180 miles. I did another oil change and checked the valve clearances. Both were a little tight. I set them both at .002 inch and it's running like a sewing machine. The owner is actually using it out on the big field next to the house. I'll have to steal it from him one day and see if it will cruise at 30 mph willingly.
