Hey guys I'm new the this forum and it seem'd the best place to get help with my moped
basically some very irritating f**k heads nicked my moped I got it back from the police but it was smashed in now the bodywork has been repaired but I have a snapped speedo cable no battery and the cylinder head is fudgeed there's no damage to the engine or electrical's and as I know of everything is in working order, now I cant find a cheap SYM jet cylinder head anywhere but my mate said I can have his old moped and take the parts off it for free (i know propa nice) anyway are most 50cc scooters the same in basic design so are the cylinder heads or speedo cables any different im asking because I havent got this other moped yet so though I'd ask if anyone has ever used parts from another moped of a different kind?
Cheers Aidan

Welcome,
Do you know if it is a 139qmb? Is it a two stroke? Along the left aide of the case there should be a string of numbers and lwtters that identifies the motor. Ifyou could get those it would be helpfull.

I just had a quick look and cant find these numbers or letters but at the moment it is naked and has no body panels on and most of the stuff has been removed to gain access to the engine and the electricals i do know its a 2 stroke engine and the back of the cylinder head has a few letters that i can only imagen the makers at SYM no what they mean lol

Well there are some codes that are well known. If you have them you can fairly easily figure out the motor design and open up possibilities for resources. The numbers are usually along the side of the casting around or below the kick start.

I think its a 2 stroke.
I have a SYM Mio SS 50 its a 4 stroke I put a Suzuki racing clutch on it I used the original pulley and the suzuki torque spring had to be shimmed to fit and the clutch bell needed a shim to stop hitting the clutch.
SYM parts are expensive and a little different than china scoots
They most likely stole it for parts

Do you fill the oil from under the seat? If you do it is a 2stroke.

see if it looks like this and check out the numbers this photo has. If you can find yours is it a 1E40QMB? if so it is a minarelli 2 stroke.
