well guys ive been sick with the bird flu or swine whatever and i have taken time off work to get better. i have asthma and it just makes it worse, you cough and end up not breathing period lol.
my mom always taught me if your sick you can't play. so i tried to get back to work so i could ride and justify it lol
my buddy just got his rocket back after a motor rebuild. and seeing it was our weekly ride time i went back to work, prematurely i may add.
we were having a good time and it was getting dark so everyone wanted to go for a ride so we went to a road with some twisties in it.
i was second in line and was keeping up when i came into a corner fast, i felt the front end start to slide so i straightend the bike up and knew that if i stayed where i was i would be into the g/r.
i seen a opening in the dark and figured it was safer than the g/r, so i headed for that, my trajectory wasn't good at all, as i would have hit a 3' thick tree, so i turned in hard and the bike went down, i missed the tree and shot over the embankment.
it went down about 8 feet lol, i am pretty good about picking lines on my sled and if i was on it i would of jumped the embankment and rode it out , the bike not so much.
it was very dark i must add, and when i flew off i must of crashed thru trees as i have bark across the back of my armored jacket.
the bike went down and i was able to pick it up immediately as one of my boys grabbed the back and we got it back to terra firma.
we were trying to figure out if i was gonna ride it home or not because the kickstand anti start would not let me put it in gear. after 20 min. i was able to tie all the wires together to get it it too go.
my headlight is now permanetely aimed for coon hunting lol, and i need some new flush mounts and some big dents in my once mint nighthawk. and the handlebars are screwed lol.
i had my cam on and it shut off just before the crash, that's the sucky part no evidence but i assure you it happened.
i was fine till about 4 am when i woke up coughing, from my enduring cold lol. my ribs are killing me lol
so i guess the moral of the story is don't ride the twisties at night following your buddy on a crotch rocket bad things happen and happen quick. i have a vid of the road and it happened at 1;24 just before the guard rail, i went between the tree and the g/r lol
if you live on the edge sometimes you trip over it lol

Damn man....that would have made one heck of a video! Get well, and slow that crap down, till you are well. This is still a small site, we don't need folks cancelling memberships for all the wrong reasons. Heal well, heal fast....those twisties will still be there when you're well, and its daylight.

of heard of people using compressed air to pop tank dents out but it takes speacial adapters that have to be made and fabbed

Go to your local Kragen, autozone or someplace like that, and get yourself a "Ding King" it uses a hot glue type material and a stick on pulling device that will yank that dent back towards normal, I've used it on car dents. These things cost about $20.00 and do work, you will most likely have to use a bit of bondo to make it perfect but the Ding King will pull it out close for you.
BTW, sorry to hear about your accident and am glad you are OK.

Glad you didn't break anything on you! I subscribed to you on the tube. Nice scenery you have. Remember though, ride your OWN ride. It could have been worse. I'm glad your still here with us. Paul

I used compressed air for a while, but it is too hard to tell when you're using too much, until you've ruptured a seam. So I bought one of those dent poppers you see on TV, and now at most chain stores. While they aren't always as effective as shown on TV, and may require severral tries on one dent...they are worth the money. You'll most likely still resort to bondo and paint for the finish, but the "body work" will have been greatly simplified. For the most minor of dents, with no scratchs in the paint, or creases in the metal, quarter size and smaller. I use dry ice. It's what a lot of body shops use on pea size hail damage. Buy it at my local welding gas supplier(dirt cheap), and with rags, towels and gloves protecting you, rub it lightly over the dent till it dissappears, polish, and you're done. 'bout the best I can tell ya man. I ain't no P&B professional, ain't even got a paint booth, but when the need arises, I'll drag out the DeVilBiss and Binks... Kinda like when I was building Cathy's bike... she wanted the fender struts to dissappear, and the fender shortenned. So I shortenned the struts, welded them to the fender, bobbed the fended, molded the struts in, then painted with a metallic strawberry, over sprayed with red pearl in the Clear Coat. I think it turned out pretty good, for an ole phart that don't do that sorta stuff, 'cept one in a blue moon....LMAO! Sorry for the hi-jack, I ain't a P&B professional, but I do my best...

thanks guys, i woke up at 1 am chokin to death, then again and again, dam my ribs hurt lol. it wouldn't be the first time lol i woke up to an empty house so the ole lady must not care if i work or not lol.
i did the air thing and ended up in high test shower lol, i'll try the suction method next just to get it a little closer to the top lol, good size dent next to the filler of course.
rusty amazingly enough i rarely see the scenery for some reason, that's why i have the cam lol, wait till you see my sled trail vids, those will be cool for sure lol
i'm more of a rough terrain type rider, you have to be good at picking lines in the worst places imo. besides they having cross country racing in our area and all my buddies want me to enter. being 43 or 44 i should be able to place in the top i hope.
kliff ive seen your work on chopper underground very nice work, that's why i asked bud.
i learned only the good die young, i'll be made to suffer till the end imo.
i was hopin to finish my impala and now i have to redo my bike? i was tryin to sell to get a rocket.
maybe a new bike is easier lol. that's how it goes lol. i almost pulled the save off till i was airborne.

this is the tool I was referring to, pulls the dent out, as Kliff said not perfect and will probably need to use some filler to make it look good. www.autobarn.net/dinkindenrep.html

well if you know your gonna repaint you can always buy a stud gun from harbor frieght and a slide hammer the stud gun and slide hammer are around 100 bucks but thats alot cheaper than a harley tank so gicve that some thgought if your talkin 3'' dent i dont know any other way other than alot of bondo heres a link to it www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=3223 ya basically remove the paint to bare metal put a stud in the gun , put it at various spots in the dent pull the trigger and it spot welds to the metal ya use the slide hammer included to pull out the dent and when your done pulling out ya easily grind off the studs without havin to put holes in the tank copper is way softer than steel

I pulled a dent the size of a half of a football out the the ding king on a car once, just got it to a rough approximation of the way it should be, but close enough to bondo the rest. A heck of a lot cheaper than buying a stud gun, but a similar idea.
