I have been looking for a long time to find a scooter, and I have seen a bunch over the last couple years that if I had the money at the time I saw it I would have loved to have bought. I finally found one that I like and had a few bucks at the same time to spend. So here it is, a 150cc long case Hockey Mask scooter, well officially it is a "Fashion Sport" sold by Longbo. A 2008 with 7524 miles on it. It does not run at this time. The owner told me it was a carb issue, but I didn't really care about that. I have a nice 150 long case that Kliff built for me that needs a home and this will be that home, eventually. The guy had it on Craigslist asking $300.00 for it, I took it home for $225.00 I figured the parts on it were worth at least that much. I got it home and took the bucket off so I could see in there. Looks like it has the Chinese hoses still in there, no cracks were visible. I pulle the fuel line off the filter, then the vacuum line for the fuel valve loose, pulled a vacuum on the line and gas came out the fuel filter, so it looks like that is working. Then I pulled the plug out , it was moist with gas so I'm thinking the carb is a t least getting fuel in there, checked for spark and it looks like there is little to no spark, mostly no spark I only saw it spark twice after several tries cranking it. That is not twice of several sparks just twice a spark when cranking it for 10 seconds. I'm going to get a cdi for it, possibly a coil too and see if that makes it run. I want to get it going, take it for some rides to see just how it goes, then I'll make long range plans for it.

Well, my plans for the day have been foiled. I just tried to call both of the local dealers and it seems that they are no longer in business. I'll have to order the parts. The local independent motorcycle store has in the past refused to have anything to do with Chinese scooters.

that is a good deal.
haven't seen any 150s in that price range.
local shops ?
I was looking for one that does dyno runs. there are 4 in the local area.
2 have fairly large signs at the front door that say they do not work on Chinese.
the other 2 have the sign inside.

LOL, yeah I was actually talking about a couple places that used to sell Chinese Scooters and ATVs. Not the local Honda store, I was "educated" by the local independent motorcycle shop about the unworthiness of Chinese products, so I'm not even going there. Ordered a CDI on ebay. I'm guessing this is a ac cdi not a dc cdi.
I felt like the price was right on it, but had to dicker with him a little, just because it does not run, you never know what the cause of not running is until you start working on them. The crank wouldn't turn it over and I didn't want to check it out too much in front of him. He was sure it was the carb but didn't feel comfortable working on it. Right now I'm pretty sure it is ignition, I have a spare coil, so that and a new cdi might just make it go.
It does not show in the picture but it has front and rear disks, I was happy with that, I hate working on drum brakes. I'm curious about how it goes, want to check it out with my gps, he said it could actually keep up in traffic that he thought was going 55 mph, he did not say that the speedo showed 55, he didn't trust the speed showed on the meter. Still has the original belt, pretty good with 7524 chinomiles if you ask me. Also still has the original tires and they still have a lot of rubber.

that speed is pretty much par, the belt & mileage are both good signs. it was ridden and worked for those miles. did not sit
would look at the motor mount bushings, since your are planning a swap.
looks like a nice project.

just saw this ad on CL
"2 scooters for sale - $400 (Bradenton) Date: 2011-09-01, 10:17AM EDT Reply to: sale-y4egm-2576700352@craigslist.org
I have 2 scooters for sale, will sell them both of $400, they do need some work. But when they are running they work awesome. Great for someone who knows about these engines. Paid $1600 for one and $900 for the other. if you only want one I will split them for $250 each. Both of them are red. (941) 580-8263"
no pics in the ad tryin to decide if I "need" another one,or 2..... LOL

Go for it, you could get them running and make a few bucks off of re-selling them. Or sell one to finance the purchase of the one you would like to keep.

I got the new CDI today, popped it in and the scooter started right up.
I let it warm up for a couple minutes and just had to take it for a spin. Didn't have my helmet on so I just thought I would take it down the road a little and come right back to the house. I live down a little country road, our drive comes up about 200 to 300 yards and then the actual driveway to the house is close to 30 yards. I road it out and down then took a left and went a quarter of a mile, turned around and headed home.
Just when I got to the turn for the drive, it died. It wouldn't restart, I had to push it uphill that last 300 or so yards. This old guy had his heart rate up that is for sure. I don't know what the climb is but I'm guessing it is about a 50 foot elevation change. So I have some more work to do to get it figured out. The battery is certainly drained now, I'm wondering if it is charging at all. The headlights were making a yellow light, not a nice bright white light, something to check out anyway.

Cool scooter! I have a 50cc version of that scooter. I like the ease of maint. cause the front and rear plastics come off in less than 5 minutes.

Hrm, it could be that you have a bad rectifier, and it managed to kill the CDI... Hopefully it did not kill your new CDI if that is the case. Just a thought,
Otto
