Well you got the best of both worlds, a little exercise and another project.
you think that new CDI is defective, as they sometimes show their problems once hot.

That is something to consider. I'm going to check it out and see what I think is the next step. This morning I got up and worked on the 450 Rebel, I caused more problems than I fixed.

Well, I had lunch and put the Rebel in the garage because it started to rain.
Then I thought well let me see if I can see something on the scooter. I took the bucket out and only had to take a glance to see the problem. The spark plug, plug was about to fall out of the motor cover. I pushed it back on and it didn't seem to grab to the plug, I then took another coil I had and hooked it up and the thing just started right up.
Going for a ride now.

I had an idea it wouldn't be much trouble.
I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do for the paint now. I really do not like the "Super Edition" so for now I'll just paint over that. I've toyed with the idea of doing a tree bark camo paint job on it, but then that would make it harder to see going down the road, nothing like hiding from the cages.

i would get out the red a nice deep dark red and hit all the smooth plastics with that and freshen up the textured plastics with some nice satin black

Hey Rebel, VERY cool!
Good deal. You'll get it running right. Even better with the new engine, but probably a decent "daily driver" with the engine in it! Might be a good candidate for the all flat-black n' red wheels "rat" treatment too!
Please do keep us posted on its progress!
Ride safe!

PS: The weather may be cooling down finally, so I dug out the Prodigy variator I've had for over a year... Carlos kindly sent me three sets of weights with it, 11, 12 and 14 gram. I'm going to weigh the weights in the stocker, as they seem pretty good. I'd like to go one notch heavier for a little easier rpm at high speed.
I already have a CVT cover cut open for the clutch and modded up front at the intake, and painted candy red, that I did a year ago. It should only be a one-afternoon job to change, and I'm anxious to see how it works! I'll let y'all know, once it's done. By the way, I'm keeping the kick-starter for sure! It's come in handy TOO often to discard!

I thought I'd go for a ride last night. Started it up and backed out of the garage, gave a twist to the throttle and nothing, just kept idling. Crap I thought. I figured the nob on the handle end had come out of the handle. Tool the handle apart and no, it was good. It was kind of dark so I figured I would work on it today in the light.
Got up, took the seat bucket out and another disappointment, it was not loose at the carb. broken in the middle someplace. Hope I ordered the right one off ebay.

Thought I would try the bicycle brake cable trick to fix the throttle cable. I pulled out the old cable and it was rusted through, about 18 inches of it is rusted pretty bad and another part was on the verge of breaking.
I used the round ball end of the original cable on the new one, had a heck of a time getting it to feed back though the housing but finally got it to come out the other end.
I tried to re-use the brass end for the throttle end but when trying to get it off found out it was not soldered on but had a bolt end holding it down, melted it trying to get it off.
after that I decided to just wait for the new one, it is supposed to be here between the 24th and 26th.

No, I misread the email, it was going to be shipped on the 24 -26th. I got another and it was shipped the 24 th, maybe it will be here today or tomorrow. If it isn't here for the week end, I picked up some play-doh and I'll give it a try.
