I changed my roller weights and put everything back together with a new flywheel/variator kit, but the nut keeps coming loose at startup. I have an impact wrench that put it back on but it keeps coming loose.
I do not have a torque wrench to tighten see what it's at but what should it be at? Can I get it too tight that if I used locktite red on it, I'd really be up $h!t creek if I had to take off and loosen b/c the belt is too tight in there? I'm thinking my impact wrench just isn't getting it tight enough.
Could it be a bad washer? All the threads on the shaft and nut are fine and tighten up fine. Just the engine start loosens things.
Lastly, if it matters, but it shouldn't I'm doing all this testing with the belt cover off so I can view.
How can I be sure the nut won't come loose after so many miles?
Thanks! Melissa 2007 Lance Vintage

Red lock tite is a very bad thing it needs heat to release it so unless you are going to hit your motor with a torch to change your belt Unless it’s a lock washer it would have nothing to do with the washer Is everything slid on propelry down to the splines and do you have a star washer on the one
You mentioned the belt is tight that could be an issue
Let’s try this again make sure everything is put together right Squeeze on the rear sheave so it collapses and gives the belt as much room as possible Now pull the belt as far out of the variator as you can and tighten it
Honestly the only way to properly torque this is if you have a tool to hold the engine from spinning over if you do you can get a loaner torque wrench from several of the big name parts stores now

Thanks for the response jmkjr72.
It is the original washer.
Yes - belt is tight. I can take some pics or a video and share. The rear sheave (clutch area right?) is so very hard to squeeze...too hard for me as a female and a 20 year old struggled. So back there the belt is super tight and barely able to reach up to go over the front spline. But we managed too - so that must be the issue. Ugh - not sure what to do.

Your clutch is fine the spring is really hard to compress You see where the red arrow is where the belt runs you need to get that pulled towards the blue arrow Your nut keeps coming off because it’s not even getting close to tight enough with the belt in the way Carefully wrap a couple of screw drivers in rags and use them for leverage to pry it open
