I currently have a 2006 SunL 125cc gy6 scooter just was wondering what has changed or upgraded with scooters in general since I first purchased this one?

Well actually yamaha has been running enricher for decades but most people called them chokes. A choke restricts air flow look at your lawn mower you will see a butterfly valve that is onky hooked to the choke cable. An enricher adds extra fuel

A choke is a butterfly similar to the throttle butterfly, the enrichers are a plunger type of thing. enricher For the most part i think the Chinese scooters have improved a bit in quality, the GY6 ones have changed little, A variant or two of a GY6 with 16 inch wheels appeared and was able to out perform the originals but self destructed for some reason and parts to repair them are or were hard to find, at least parts that were specific to those models.

Most of the carburetors in Japanese style carbs have enricheners. I recently installed a carb on a Honda Nighthawk 250. The "choke" cable controlled a plunger that was in the side of the carb in a tunnel that let gas flow through while the engine is cold and the plunger is raised. As the engine warms the choke lever lowers the plunger manually and cuts off the excess flow.
