I bought a '04 FillyLX. In order to make it go above 35 you have to change out the boss on the variator. Instead of a spacer, like most China 49cc engines, Kymco machines the spacer into the variator boss. Sorry for the crappy picture but you can see what I speak of. Luckily a normal QMB139 spacer fits right in. Other Kymco scooters have this spacer plus a restricted CDI. Here's a link for just a few models. www.scribd.com/doc/2210136/2Wheel-DerestrictionRD

RD, If you have a lathe, could you just turn it down and put it back in?

Aye Rebel. If. I'm afraid I don't have one, as of yet. But a standard boss is an inexpensive thing.

your trying to derestrict a filly?
good luck. lol. i had one of thems back in ought-4 and i could NOT get it over 38mph (speedo confirmed..) i contacted the Taiwanese kymco techs, followed their diagrams, chopped the cdi box, removed the restrictor, swapped the exhaust, custom fabricated a new air filter, pretty much everything you can think of, and i got zippo. i think i jacked with weights and jets too, but to be honest it's been a few years so i dont recall any of the specifics. if you manage to get it over 40, please please please post it. it would make me happy, because that stupid, reliable little bugger was the slowest defeat i ever rode. i still feel to this day that i missed something obvious in my quest for more mph, and i'd like someone to crack the code. it's odd since normally kymco's are easy to derestrict.

i know when it comes to the ac 2 strokes you cut the wire you either get the old lc 2 stroke cdi or an after market cdi and i belive its a gy6 150 cdi that they use and its plug and play where the lc cdi you have to repin or splice in

when i talked to the guys in taiwan, they made a diagram that showed a wired epoxied into the cdi, and gave me a precise angle to cut to sever some kind of restriction circuit inside. the documentation shows that there is no restriction in the cdi, but i cut it anyway, because they told me to, lol. dereging the 2t's was a cake walk indeed. i need a super 9

aye, but the super 9 has a certain... intangible quality about it. one of my favorite bikes, though i have really taken a shine to the yamaha axis in my backyard...
