Im going to be getting a shock from Autotech on Ebay tomm. I was thinking about getting his reed cage with carbon reeds. Do you guys think they are worth the $. What kind of changes good or bad should i expect?

I've never done reeds alone, so I'm not sure what they offer in real world gains. I can tell you that Autotech's reeed cage does have larger ports than the stock cage. Another advantage of using an aftermarket reed cage is that you can use the stocker to make a reed spacer. Mine picked up a little midrange power using a reed spacer.

I may be wrong but Autotech's reeds are white in color. Makes me think they are fiberglass. And they still have stainless steal on them.

All the reeds I've seen him sell are carbon fiber. The metal on the Autotech reed is used as a stopper. Here's the reed cage I got from Autotech.

I know about as much about 2 strokes as I do space rockets, but I agree, it is purdy.

well I know this is an old thread but i thought I would add the following. White reeds are in fact fiberglass. The carbon fiber reeds will add performance all the way around. They are more brittle though and they have a tendency to chip on the corners. When this happens starting will slowly become more and more difficult.

thanks boss. I just hope all this comes back to me as I start working on my new baccio. I quit racing mx after breaking my back in 2 places on my own SX track in my backyard. I do love the sound of a nice 2t though.

yeah the white reeds are fiberglass and dont hold up well to abuse the advantages to cf reeds better throttle response ( after all these are like your valves on a 2 stroke ) and if they fail they do a lot less damage then a steel reed when it fails and if you do even a med high rev kit you will chunk oem steel reeds
