I don't know if I can go another summer adjusting/tightening the mirrors every other time I ride. any suggestions for a good after market mirror. They're for scooter in my sig pic. I'd like something skinny and bare so I keep the turn signal housing, in other words I just need new mirror guts

OK the obvious thing is, did you look on ebay, some sellers there have mirrors for scooters. you may not find exact replacements. you can try regular motorcycle mirrors too.

Mirror mounts seem like they're purposely made to spin in circles
This the complaint you have. Have you thought about loctite or epoxy? I would just set the mirrors where I want them and glue them in place. I assume you mean where they attach to the handlegrips. Loctite. If it's at the top where the mirrors attach to the stalks, epoxy. You can paint over it once it's dry and no one will see it.

Anything permanent is a no-go, they partially block the brake fluid reservoirs so I still need take them off from time to time. I've tried new spacers and bolts which worked ok on mirror but the right mirror still hates me. I think I might try some teflon tape on the threads before I give up and just mount some bike mirrors on the ends of the grips.

get some locktite blue it can be broken free easily but yes make sure your jam nuts are set up right
if you want after market are they 8mm or 10mm is the right side standerd or reverse thread either way there are plenty of adapeters out there for 8mm to 10mm (10mm is prety much standerd for motorcycles)
