This all came about because I wanted to lighten my 72cc Scooter as much as possible. I'm getting rid of the electric start system and using a sink instead of a battery. I removed the starter, solenoid, battery, and all the associated wiring that goes along with it. I wire the new system up and nothing. No spark at all. ? What the heck? It's just a starter motor and a switch. After a peek at the schematic and a few beers later I figured it out. Do you know why there was no spark? Kliff, I'm sure you know and Jeremy as well, so no fair answering. RD

Correct!!! It's not just the starter ground. It's the ground for the engine. Wasn't obvious to me at first, electrics not being my forte. So, all I had to do was run a ground to the engine and vroooom!!!

It won't make the top speed faster. Well it might a little, depending on a lot a variables. But it will make it accelerate quicker, with the proper gearing. And that's what I'm after.

Ginny, I'm pretty sure it is for his drag scooter he is doing this, not for a street scooter.
