KZ1000st and RapidJim, Thank you for your replies. these replies will help alot. what I am trying to find is a carb kit and the correct spark plug. This scooter/moped belongs to am old pal of mine that is 80 yrs old, he had it stored for 15 years and decided that he wants to ride again. But of course his wife does not think to much about the riding part, but the 30 yrs I have know him, he all ways rode a scooter of some sort. Again Thanks guys I appreciate the info. Don B.

Is this the scooter/moped? these were produced from '79-'92 obvious question is did you check with the Yamaha dealer for what you need? Or is it too far out from production for them. here is a link for a shop manual if you need one, it is a four part pdf; www.mopedriders.org/article_view.php?faq=2&fldAuto=45

Yes that is the moped, I tried the the local Yamaha dealer they stated no parts avaliable but they did give me the correct spark plug number. So I called the parts man at the local Honda dealer and he gave a place for the parts that I need, go fiqure. Rebel Thank you for the link, it will be great help. Rapidjim, I will E-Mail your link and see what they can do. Again Thank you guys you have been a great help. Don B.

i know several of the local yamaha shops around here dont know there head from a hole in the ground when it comes to peds and scoots Must be a Yamaha thing. We have the same problem in this area, not only does the local Yamaha shop parts guy not know scooters and parts he is a real jerk to folks that call looking for them. Jim

of the three close shops i wont let any work on my yamaha one will order parts but its a small rural shop so just about every thing comes from the putz shop in green bay and the putz shop you ask for something and they give you the wrong thing or a more expensive aftermarket part that doesnt hold up as well as the stock part even if you ask for something by part number they will still screw it up the other its a pia to get parts from
when it comes to modding zumas the one shop calls me to ask questions another i have seen more holes in pistons from it isnt even funny in fact if the person says they had the work done there i wont touch the scoot unless the owner agrees to buy all new parts as that shop has fubared more stuff then i can count bbks with stock carbs and stock jets
heck i just heard of a yamaha shop that changed a rear tire for some one and siezed the guys engine in the process

Yes, it must be a Yamaha thing. Of the three Yamaha dealers in my area. You could put all three service and parts advisors together and would not get one that knows anything about scooters or will try and help you with a parts question, even when you have the parts number. jmkjr72, Thank you for the site. I will search the site and see what I can find. Don B.
