How large a rear tire will fit a standard steel 10 inch rim? The rim seems to be approximately 2.5 inches wide. Perhaps a little less. It has a 3.50 x 10 on it now. Will a 4.00 x 10 fit? Let me see if I have this straight. A 4.00 tire is 4 inches wide at it's maximum width. Any idea what the circumference would be?
A 110/90 10 is 4.33 inches wide. Ever try one of those on a 2.5 inch steel rim?

i wish i knew how wide my zuma rims were as we have 130s stock on our rims
i have noticed that there seems to be a lot of diffrences is the 3.50x10s from one brand to another as when you look at some they will say will not fit the stells or some other modles
i do know that the issue with the stella is a rub issue

If you need to figure out circumference, I've got a calculator here : 49ccscoot.com/calculators.htmlI've got Pirelli SL26 100/90/10s on my little 10s. They fit fine. That's all I can really tell you.

Thanks folks. Nice GT. I'd never noticed that page before at your site. After studying on it I think I'll go with those Pirelli as well. They are almost a 1/2 inch wider and a 1/2 inch taller. And the circumference is a bit more than 2 inches longer.

I just stuck a 120/90/10 on a 2.5" wheel. Fit the wheel fine, just too big for my short case 2T.

Brent, just trim some of that extra rubber off it and it will fit for you.

lol I trimmed part of the case off. It's so tight from the height that I can't even rotate the tire. I asked Jeremy and he said a 4.00x10 is about 19" tall. This one is only 18.5". I've been trying to figure out the biggest tire I can fit, so here's the info I've gathered or came up with. Some figures are a little rough, and some manufacturers do build tires slightly different sized than others.
2.50x10 : 2.5"W x ?"T 2.75x10 : 2.8"W x ?"T 3.00x10 : 3.0"W x "T 80/90/10 : 3.1"W x 15.7"T 90/90/10 : 3.5"W x 16.4"T 3.50x10 : 3.5"W x 16.5"T 100/80/10 : 3.9"W x 16.3"T 100/90/10 : 3.9"W x 17.1"T 4.00x10 : 4.0"W x 19"T 110/80/10 : 4.3"W x 16.9"T 120/70/10 : 4.7"W x 16.6"T 120/90/10 : 4.7"W x 18.5"T 130/70/10 : 4.7"W x 17.2"T 130/90/10 : 5.1"W x 19.2"T

I ordered a 110/80/10. Trying to keep it as wide as I can and drop the height down so it clears easily. I stuck some more info HERE for other wheel sizes and speed ratings.

did you check on the foot print of the tires? I like wide myself but sometimes long foot prints give you more control surface and are less likely to hydroplane.

I like the looks of that 140/60-13. I'll have to try one out on my 150.

don't forget when you are cutting it close that a tire will grow at high speeds from centrifugal force. they all do it some more than others. john
