Ok folks, cure my ignorance on this matter and tell me what those shims are for. And how does one determine that one needs them. I have a Dr Pulley Variator, for a 150, that has them included. I've never read or seen anyone speak of them before.

Sorry there Rebel . Dr Pulley says, "Put 0 to 3 washers as spacers between the boss and the front static pulley. Use the washers to get a better match of gear shift ratio and revolutions of engine when the torque of your engine is not strong enough." Now doing that would allow the belt to ride lower, closer to the boss, and give you a lower ratio. I was wondering how the heck one could tell if you really needed it or not? I guess to old sharpie trick or a little Prussian blue to see where it rides now. RD

I have no idea what the shims do, but if they work, they work. I've been planning on installing the NCY variator and clutch/bell kit. Are these any good or would I be better off using the Dr. Pulley stuff?

ok the shims are to keep your belt true(straight) what i do is lay a staright edge top to bottem across the trans case use my caliper with the rat tail and measure the distance to the belt near the clutch bell and near the varaitor you use the shims to try and get these measurements as close as possible normaly what happens is the belt is farther from the edge of the case near the varaitor (i have seen one that it wasnt) so if the by the bell it measuere 1.42 and by the varatior it measures 1.52 you need 0.10 shim behind the varaitor to keep your belt true

That make more sense Jmk. As usual, the Chinese to English translation was a bit lacking.
Foot, I have both and the NCY is a good variator. I understand that Prodigy is as well, although I have no first hand experience with them.

Thanks RD. I was just curious as to who had experience with the NCY. Makes my decision much easier.
