If this wasn't on the other side of the state I might be tempted to go. Scooters To Hit Sturgis Posts Published: March 4, 2010, 8:06 AM
STURGIS, SD - The western South Dakota community known for the roar of Harley Davidsons in August will be filled with the hum of scooters in June.
The Cushman Club of America is bringing its annual Cushman Scooters meet this year to Sturgis, site of the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The national scooter meets have been held for nearly three decades. Past-president Jeff Bartheld says club members decided Sturgis would be a good site, so they could "play where the big boys played."
The Cushman Rally is set for June 14-18. Bartheld says more than 400 campsites and hotel rooms have already been reserved.

Oh oh...
The seductive cackle of thousands (well, at least HUNDREDS, maybe?) of vintage Husky flatheads, barking through long megaphone dual pipes! The squishy squeak of those big, soft airplane tailwheel balloon tires! The clank of those lift-it-with-your-toe-first kick starters! Every bit as cool as any Harley, and I'm a BIG hog admirer... Just check the SR banner to see what the General rides! Be still my beating heart!
It just don't get no better than that!
NOTHING Asian... Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or flat-nosed Pekinese can EVER stir the senses like those leaky, noisy, polluting and OH-SO-COOL Cushmans... Back when scoots had 8 hp and 30 lb/ft of torque, and 55 mph was achieved at 3,000 rpm... Makes me wish it was 1955 all over again!
Wish I could be there!

PS: Patticake, I sure do hope SOMEBODY attends, takes a poop-load of good pix and posts 'em!

I really do wish it was closer to me, I would go. Don't know (after buying the scoot) if the funds are there. It would be fun to be the semi-official *press corp* for the Rebels. May have to give it some thought. It's only 400 miles away. Might be able to convince my friend Neighbor Bill to go..... he always drives on trips. Good time of the year to be camping in the Black Hills, if the snow is gone by then.

June 14th is a long way off, time to save up a few buck for gas.
