Kliff and I spoke a few months ago about possibly organizing the forum into an area for those that just want to keep the scooter running and might want to mod the exhaust and carb a little, then an area for the all out tuners.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to do that.

Well Rebel I'll give it a shot. You could put one of each in the 2 Stroke, 50 and up, 125 and up. And then move the threads that are there into on of those groups. Since most folks with a 250 rarely do anything more than exhaust and the carb., you might leave that be. Or just put one more category for major mods under each of the four headings. Not sure if this helps you any but it's always nice to have someone bounce an idea off the problem. Then at least you can see what you don't want . RD

I kinda did that on my site. I have a Troubleshooting and a Performance section of each category (50cc 4t/50cc 2T and so on). Not exactly what you are looking for, but it's a simple way to organize it. I guess you could create a standard section and a hardcore section, for example
50cc+ Scooters -50cc+ Maintenance and Routine Mods -50cc+ Hardcore Mods

when i was thinking about doing it back then I had a thought on how to do it that was a bit different than that, unfortunately I neither followed through or wrote the idea down. I was hoping for a create new option and am open to more brainstorming here.

Another layout idea for you... If I'm way off on what you are looking for I can shut up. lol
Maintenance & Bolt ons -50cc Troubleshooting & Maintenance -50cc Bolt Ons (mods not requiring custom work or major disassembly) -125cc TS & M -125cc Bolt ons etc.... Hardcore -50cc Engine and Transmission -50cc Restoration and Customs -125cc E & T etc...

No you are not way off, I just have visions of a mile long opening page. Sub boards may be a way to go.

Maybe as we all do our spring maintenance we can take some pictures and submit how we do things. I remember the first time I went after my valves, Jeez! Take off the fender skirts, take off the seat, take off the front panel below the seat, disconnect the battery and remove the floorboard, oh did I mention the plastic pieces below the floorboard have to come off too. Then the usual trial removing the valve cover when you have an EGR setup. No big deal, about three quarters of an hour to get to the valves and five minutes to check them. Ask me why my spark plug is going to last about 12,000 miles. Because I have to take off most of that stuff to get at it and remove it safely.
