I'm planning on making my own exhaust, and was wondering if anyone makes a flange as a separate part? I haven't found any. If it comes down to it, I'll just make my own, but it would be easier to buy one. I have the muffler and pipe, just need the flange.

I wish! I make mine, every time I need one. Started to get a batch cut out by water jet.....but jeeeeez.....the gguy wants me to by a 4x8 FOOT sheet of steel, and commit to the entire sheet being cut..
So, I keep making them as I need them.

Seems like the people who operate the water jet business (we have one here too) would be able to do small orders, say 10 pieces, at a reasonable price, but I guess our little jobs don't mean much to them. The cost of the steel would be enough to stop me. I guess I'll be making my own too.

If they'd take in 2'x2' sheets of steel, I could have exhaust flanges cut in several sizes, and some turbo flanges, not have the national debt threatenned and be able to sell some of each at reasonable prices. But this guy says 4x8, ONE pattern ONLY.... I don't need a couple of THOUSAND flanges, even at a buck a piece cutting charge, + the steel!

Most water jets are programmed by computer, and can be setup to do whatever you want, so why would there have to be just one pattern? I could probably have them wired out by a friend of mine who is a master toolmaker on the EDM, if they aren't real busy at the shop he works at. I'm going to look into it.

Possible solution...
I have no welding equipment, and am going to adapt a different exhaust to my own scoot, and needed to fabricate a flange/header to connect it. I got a used Onan generator header pipe off eBay for a buck and shipping, and it seems to be a good match to a stock GY6 header I compared it to. It should bolt up to the head OK, with maybe a little adjusting of the bolt holes... and, it's a nice large diameter pipe with no restrictive slag or tight bends like the stocker.
I think you can find Onan, John Deere and other generator pipes used on eBay regularly at very little cost. Worth a try! If it didn't work, you wouldn't be out a bunch...
Ride safe,

I just made my own out of 1/8" plate steel. We have a couple of places that sell scrap pieces at reasonable prices. Still have a little left over for other projects.
