Guys and gals I have absent and frankly not terribly interested in online communities. Christmas went fine but was very hectic as is often the case. My grandmother has been very ill for some time. She was suffering from congestive heart failure. We almost lost her a month before Christmas but she rebounded after a brief stay in the hospital. She made it to Christmas and for that I am grateful. My mother and my aunt have been providing care for her as her illness worsened. It was her desire to remain in her home and my mother and aunt would trade nights staying with her. We had a Hospice nurse that assisted during the day. My mother is a full time school teacher and the stress and fatigue caught up with her. The morning of New Years Eve she was on her way to an appointment and lost control of her car. She crossed the center line and hit a 5500 series Chevy Rack body truck head on at highway speed. The medics called my aunt who got hold of me. At the time they were cutting the car away from her to transport her to the nearest trauma center. I dropped everything and headed the 2 hours to be with her. Dad did the same. This is what was left of her car. It was a 2002 Chrysler 300M.
She fractured her neck in two places and injured her ankle. She will be in a neck brace for some time and will need some physical therapy. We're just happy she is alive. It could have gone either way. 3 days later my grandmother passed. My mother and aunt were by her side. We had the funeral today. She will be missed. I will be back onboard as soon as I am up to it. In the meantime stay safe out there.
