One of the downsides of working on computers is that you're sitting all day with your eyes cast at a downward angle, and your head tends to follow. Progressive eyeglass lenses or probably bifocals fix that...you have to tip your head up to see the screen even if the puter is on your lap. Of course I had a 32" monitor before I would admit to myself I needed 'glasses'

Harry, Numbski is too young to need bi-focals yet, unless he was born with the need for reading glasses.

Harry, Numbski is too young to need bi-focals yet, unless he was born with the need for reading glasses. Don't they issue 'occupationals' as a matter of course to computer workers any more? Or did that go away when they started having keyboards that weren't attached to the screen? All the optometrists around here have a faux workstation and you set it up like your work desk...then they measure from your nose to the screen. (Microsoft workers get a $500/yr eye wear allowance) Of course since I didn't like wearing occupationals when I started my own company I bought a mondo big desk and just pushed the screen back.

As a wearer of bi-focals I can tell you even after 8 years in them they are a pain! I am extremely near sighted and even take mind off to read but what's a pain about bi-focals is driving! ya just can't seem to tilt your head in the right direction all the time!! at least that's how they effect me!! I will say this though I seem to hold my head up straight on the computer so who knows maybe they do help on that!1 JR

I've never heard of "occupationals" but then I still have a few things to learn.

I've never heard of "occupationals" but then I still have a few things to learn. My understanding is that they are issued to people in the computer industry that would otherwise not need glasses. I.E. I didn't actually need glasses based on a vision exam until I was 45. But for a good chunk of my career the screen wasn't at an 'at rest' focal point...so the optometrist gave me a prescription for 'occupational' glasses which allowed my eyes to be at 'rest' while I was working. A lot of people I have worked with had them.

Hey yall. I drank all the coffee.. Lol. I brought some fried chicken, chocolate cake and some cold beer to the party with me. Ok. As usual I jumped in backwards. So I gave you my thumbs up and well wishes and I got your backs and and all that jazz on the thread Howdy Guys. btw:I hope I didn't say anything negative there about SD. Just saying how I felt and what I missed and am glad to see that it is like coming home again but with a little house cleaning and remodeling done sort of thing. This is a great and awesome site! Tho, being the blonde that I am,- I am a little confused on if we are sticking with old names or if we are going with new ones. Everyone from SD knows that my name is Sherry, so if any of you just want to call me by my real name.. that is cool with me. ;D This is a good thing yall got ging on here and again saying thumbs up and kudos. Am glad to see the love for scoots and riding being shared again..

Sherry,
I already said welcome to you in another thread, but welcome again. As far as names go, well you do not need to use your SD name here, but you can if you want. I'm glad you feel at home here.
