Glad to see those are coming down in price. I used to have a Tomos moped with a bad engine, I looked fairly seriously into converting it to electric. just to get the drive setup, controller, and charger was going to be nearly $1000, and that's not including batteries.

I don't know if green is over rated but it is not quiet ready for prime time on the highway. Those two I posted aboove are electrics made in China. The more expensive one has close to the Vetrix possibility, the first one is supposed to be able to get up to 48 mph and has a 60 mile range. I'm sure range is considerably less at the 48 mph. Not too long ago you were looking at a 20 mile range and 25 - 30 mph.
Vetrix was listing at about 10,000.00 when they started selling them, that dropped to 8,000.00 and that is still kind of high, these are less than a quarter of that.

It does cost a lot to replace the packs. I don't know the price of them from the factory but a electric vehicle forum I go to has a lot of members that build their own motorcycles and scooters as well as just ab anything else that can move. I read a post by a guy last night that said he was going to spend about $700.00 for some batteries for his home built scooter. The main issue most of these things have is not can they go or can they go fast enough, it is the batteries and how far they can take you for what cost.
I have seen one scooter that the owner rides to work nd has attached a couple of solar panels to it so it charges as he is at work for the trip home, that works for him but I don't think most people would like it.

If your looking for electric, consider an electric bicycle instead. Goto www.endless-shere.com. There is an electric bike forum over there with people doing crazy things. You can go from a $400 kit up to the sky is the limit. Some of them over there are fanatical and have machines that would easy blow away a typical 150. By using a bike you are starting with alot lighter weight and bigger tires which help. I was looking into one before I got the scooter.
