Leo I saw that dipstick on ebay, I didn't like that it only reads up to 100*C Not sure if you had seen this : If you wanna save a few pennies, you can do like I did and copy Kilffs idea Harbor freight has a digital thermometer for 5 bux and some change Mine reads up to 500*F with a claimed accyracy of +/- 1* Takes about 10 minutes to make, and you dont have to wait on shipping

Kliffs mod is great and he is sending me one with the motor he did for me, only problem though is reading it at 50 mph going down the road. A gauge on the dash would be a lot safer to check.

Ahh its not too bad......... I just hold the bars with my feet and hang my head out the side kinda upsidedownlike , take my helmet off and get real close to the thermometer, the only hard part is not burning my finger on the exhaust while pushing the button to get a reading

Hey, that looks a great way to go! Much greater heat range, etc. Gotta try it!
THANKS!

The vapor computer has one built in, does it not? Or does it just take a reading from the spark plug?

seems to me that the vapor does things like speed, rpms, distances, I don't think it has a temp gauge, but could be wrong.

trailtech.net/vapor.htmlAm I looking at the wrong page? I should probably call them, but I'd like to get part numbers/order urls that exactly match what these scooters need. That way I can put it on my wishlist for christmas and not have people going "WTF is that?" I've been using wantz.it for wishlists this year. Seems to work pretty well. That's why I want exact URLs.

looks like the right one, and it just might do it, it does say engine temp on it, I just don't know if it means coolant or oil temp.

OK, what I have read now on the Vapor is that is has a sensor that goes under the spark plug and measures cylinder head temperature. I'm wondering how thick it is and how it effects spark in the chamber, may be nothing to worry about but if the plug does not go in as far, it may be like putting a cooler plug in. I understand they offer a oil plug sensor as an option.

The plug temp sensor from Trail Tech is about .012" thick, the one I use from Aircraft Spuce is about .014" thick.
No problems from either one.
