The seasons are changing. Every year we have a winter flu season, this year we also have the swine flu, last Spring when it popped up the world had a convulsion. we were all concerned that tens of thousands of people were going to die, they have not. In fact the swine flu has not been very bad at all. Yes some people have died from the swine flu, but some people die from the regular flu every year too. here are some thoughts from me on the subject.
To keep from getting it;
1. wash your hands often
2. avoid crowds
3. get plenty of rest
4. eat a good diet and it does not hurt to take a decent vitamin
5. wash your hands again
6. avoid public restrooms, it is proven that 50% of the people that go into public rest rooms do not wash their hands
7. get the flu shots, yup two of them this year.
8. wash your hands
So if you start getting sick, either stay home and try to get well, and that does work for some people, or go see your doctor and get treatment. Tamiflu is the treatment and the cost is about $100.00 if you don't have insurance. You may also be given some cough medication and something for fever. As always you should drink lots of liquids and get some rest.
How do you know if you have it? The symptoms are the same as the regular flu. Cough, runny nose, nasal congestion, nausea, body aches, head aches, diarrhea, fatigue....... but f you have those this time of year it is most probably the H1N1 (swine) flu. as Winter comes it will be harder to tell who has what, regular or swine flu.
