You may have noticed a new character on the rebels store banner ad, her name is Daisy and she will be on some of the items sold in the store as well as on a new logo at the top of the page. After all some rebels are gals.
We can thank OCG for the artwork.

Thanks for the compliments!
Rebel and I have been talking about "Daisy" for some time, but health issues in my family have kept me off the board for a while. Rebel has some great ideas for other characters too. As we progress, we should have a whole "platoon" of interesting Rebs to adorn the site, and/or promo items for the store.
Keep scootin'...

Nice work. I like that she's standing by a Chinese scoot rather than an old Cushman. The Cushman is nice, but this site is mostly full of Chinese scooter owners. Not sure if you noticed, but when you mirrored that image for the banner it made the license plate not read correctly and the tuned pipe and CVT just look weird on the wrong side as well as leaning the wrong way for the kickstand. The general has less features that would look off if mirrored. Not trying to be overly critical, just something to think about if the banner ever gets redesigned.

Leo - looks good and I note the reversal on flip was mentioned. What's the black oval over her right eye?

One of my favorite things about this site is how Doug is always going the extra mile to think of ideas and ways to let everyone feel at home. Kudos for the idea of Daisy. Leo, Big high 5 to you on your art work. I hope that the health issues in your family improve very soon. You guys rock!

OK, sorry about the black oval, I didn't notice it when I finished the banner, it had to have been a slip of a writing tool. I'll fix it, Ya, I new it would mess with the license plate when I flipped the picture, as well as having the exhaust on the wrong side but I felt it was a better position for her to be in than the other. It is a work in progress.
Sherry, thanks about the compliment, and we all share your concerns about Leo and his family.
I'll switch the General and Daisy, that will fix all the errors.

OOPS!
Forgot about the license plate myself! I'll send Doug another graphic with the plate "backwards"... I'm not much with computers (hard to teach an old dog new tricks...).
I didn't really mind the scooter parts being on the wrong side (heck, she is a cartoon) and maybe she got the "Workers' Paradise" to fab her up a left-handed scoot... One of my south-paw buddies had a closet full of custom bolt-action rifles with the bolts on the "wrong" side.
Health is getting better. Mostly the wife, but takes a LOT of time. She wants to get back on the the scooter, and I want her there too. Bones get like cheap cast metal parts, and arthritis makes doing stuff a REAL pain. It's just the stuff you have to deal with as you scoot on into your "Golden Years" Cheesh, whoever coined THAT term should be boiled in Geritol... Lots of good stuff for the site yet to come!
Enjoy the ride,

I'm kind of with Leo on this, it is a cartoon and if we posted a picture that was actually of the other side, you wouldn't notice that it appears to ba a 2-stroke scooter by the appearance of the exhaust, so this little Daisy can scoot on down the road pretty fast because I'm sure she would not just have a stock scooter, has to have a big bore kit, some hot reeds with the spacers under them, boost bottle, and performance exhaust system. But what do I know about 2 stroke scooters all my 2 strokes are gardening tools. Now the license well I thought it might be forgivable.

OK, I sent Doug some new cleaner graphics of Daisy facing both ways, hopefully better suited for him to harvest for site use...
Yup, I figured a Chinese scoot was about due... I drew the art with the exhaust side of the scoot showing, simply to give a little "performance" look, with the stinger pipe and rear disk... They're using this exhaust now on BOTH 2-stroke AND 4-stroke scoots with good success, so I figured I could please the the 2-stroke Rebs as well as the GY-6 drivers...
I have a vague idea for a gal-buddy for Daisy down the road. "Dixie" if I ever get her drawn up, and if Doug likes the idea, may be in total contrast to zaftig, cuddly Daisy... Lanky, bad-to-the-skinny-bone Dixie would be the girl your mama warned you about. I see her riding a stretched scoot with a monster snowmobile engine with a trio of carbs and pipes hanging out in the wind...
As an artist, I always say "if ya can't build it, draw it..." Then there's always Chip Foose (the master auto designer)... He can draw 'em AND build 'em!
I currently have an exhaust like this taking up livingroom floor space right now for my GY-6 150. Just have to find time to fab up a mount, bolt it up and re-jet. May be next spring though, as I'm short of time, and Lil Bubba is running SO good right now that I hate to change anything... I REALLY enjoy riding more than wrenching!
And, Rebel's right! Daisy would never settle for a stocker... Her Reb rags don't hide much, but who knows just what lurks beneath the plastic on her ride!
Oh well, back to the old drawing board (literally)...
Stay safe,
Leo

I wanted to try out a side bar, not too sure I like the smaller viewing area for the forum. I'll see what you all think about it, be sure to let me know. I can change it back but tonight I'm ready to hit the hay.

Leo & Doug - the artwork is great! Dixie sounds good. Maybe you need a "reality based" buddy for the Genr'l? Given the number of us old, ever-so-slightly overweight vets riding scoots, how about a scruffy, old sarge with a bit of the a belly to keep the Genr'l in line?

Doug,
I like the sidebar design! It makes the graphics a little easier to see, and you can add (or change out) designs down the side any time. This design keeps the site fresh, and should encourage viewers to check out the store to see what may be offered on shirts, etc. NEAT!
astroprof,
You're reading Doug's mind! He already roughed up just such a character! As soon as I can, I'm going to see what I can do with him... I'm thinking of him as the company forager... "scrounger" who can keep the stuff running with bits and pieces of "whatever".
Could be he rides a "Franken-scooter" cobbled together from battlefield pick-ups... Maybe a generic Ruckus style, with water-pipe exhaust, moonshine-keg gas tank, etc. Yeah, he can keep the General in line... (oh, SURE...) while keeping the troops mobile with creative "engineering". Us old vets do know it's the grunts that keep the generals in the limelight, don't we?
Stay safe, and enjoy the ride!

Leo - sounds like my old 1st sarge in Nam. Be safe and I hope you and Betty are feeling better soon. I know for a fact that bad knees definitely stink. Maybe we can all get a six pack of Ensure and go cruise the old folks home together!

Leo, as always is reading my mind too, or is it that I'm very predictable. I dunno, but I thought along the same lines as a scooter and occupation for the character I roughed out and sent him.
The pictures as seen are hosted in tinypic and the code that I used to make the side bar requires that any pictures be posted using html coding. Unfortunately the codes that tinypic generated created the pictures as links that send you back to tinypic, I'll have to fix that. I am at work and will tackle that tonight at home.
