Hi,
Today I picked up a spare CVT belt, thinking it might be a good idea to have one handy in case I need to replace it. The guys at the local scooter shop said the belt was for a 139QMB (10") wheel, and so I did not check it any further. When I got home I compared the belt with a used one I had around, and to my astonishment it seems I was sold a different size of belt than the original belt I had kept...
As far as I understand (after some digging), the standard size belt for a 139QMB with 10" wheel is 669x18x30. The one the local scooter shop sold me is a Naraku 671x18x30.
Now, I suppose this means that the new belt is 2mm longer, and while I don't doubt it will fit I do wonder is if it will affect my performance? Having a slightly longer belt would mean it can climb higher on the front CVT pulley I believe, which if I am correct, and that would result in a slightly higher "gear" at max RPM. Possibly increasing my top speed?
Or am I completely in the wrong here, and should take the new belt back and get a 669x18x30 belt?
/Otto

2mm isn't going to make much if any difference. On the 150's they have 835 and 842's. I've tried both..maybe 1 or 2 MPH difference between hill climbing and top end.

Take the belt back and get the correct one is what I suggest. Good idea to have a spare.

Ok, thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll head over to the shop as soon as I have time and see what they say, I think there is something bogus with this belt as the markings on it says 17.7x678, which is completely off...

2mm is pretty small, it would probably work just fine but it would not hurt also to get the size you want.

I agree I doubt 2mm will make a difference, then again you should always get what you want you are the one paying for it.
