50 cc Gator Scooter starts and runs, but dies out.

Hey Guys,

So I have this 50 cc Gator Scooter that runs great. It has only 250 miles on it and only 6 months old. I only use it once a week to go 2 miles up and down and that is it. So i would say the scooter is pretty well maintained.

But lately, it is giving me some trouble. It all started 2 months ago when one day when I was riding it, for some reason it started losing power. Even if I gave throttle, it just won't pick up speed and eventually come to a stop. After trying to start it a few times, it finally started and then didn't give me any trouble for the next 2 months.

Yesterday, it started with no trouble, but after going for like 400 meters, it again started losing power and died out on me. But this time, it did not start back no matter how much I tried. I don't know what the issue is. I am thinking it might be a bad spark plug or CGI or whatever box or dirt in the fuel filtration system.

Today, I randomly tried to start it, & it started and now seems to run fine. But I am afraid to take it out because I think it might crap out on me in the middle of the road somewhere.

What do you guys think might be the issue?

You need three things fuel spark and air
I hate to say it the only way to trouble shoot it is to ride it till it dies
Before you go out have the cover to acess the carb and spark plug off
When it dies test for spark you can buy a cheap inline spark tester or you can pull the plug and ground it to the engine try and start and watch for spark
Or try to bring some starting fluid with and spray it into the intake if it starts dr a short period of time you have spark but no fuel or if you have a drain on your carb bowl you can open that and see if fuel comes out
