Nearly a decade ago, I became an original member of ItIsTheRide. It was Doug's (Rebel's) wish to augment Scooter Rebels with a FRIENDLY forum welcoming all manner of riders, not just scooter-jockeys and I signed on the day it opened.
Doug had me design the banner identity and the site was monumentally successful for many years.
During the last two years, something went south. One member began attacking other members with insults, bullying and grade-schoolyard name calling to the point that it became pointless to participate, knowing your post will likely bring a tirade of insults. I was not the only target of this obnoxious troll, but was his favorite.
I put up with that for a year, and finally stood up for myself and was rewarded with a moderator reminding me that this guy is such a genius (one would think he invented the internal combustion engine...) and I had no business criticizing him (forget his insults to me, my friends and such)...
That did it, and I spoke up against the bullying and my account was suspended.
After that, I tried to get along but to no avail. A few days ago, after more personal insults I threw in the towel and made a final post letting all know I'd had enough of the bullying with no censoring of the bully, him being approved of by the moderators.
I posted that I'm DONE with that site, and I was immediately banned from it. ________________________________________________________________
It's sad to see Doug's forum under control of whomever now runs it. If any of the moderators are also on THIS forum, I'm sorry but you've let the other forum degenerate to name-calling, bullying and insults, making it null and void to decent members.
Returning to SCOOTER REBELS is a breath of fresh air. I find no such insulting posts, and see the same friendly forum of long ago. Way to go Rebels!
This forum has slowed down a lot, but NEVER will be "replaced" with ItIsTheRide... At 71, and my Wife at 85, we do have plenty of health problems, so I'm not the energetic ball-of-fire I was 10 years ago, but I hope I can help put new life into this fine forum. I truly hope that many of my good and decent friends from the other forum will become active here. SCOOTER REBELS has stood the test of time that ItIsTheRide has not.
All too often forums (or is it fora?) LOL... degenerate to the bullies' control. Let's not ever let that happen here. I know from the past that Doug would not tolerate such garbage. I have not heard from him in a very long time, and know he had health issues. I am concerned that he may be debilitated or may have even passed away. I greatly respect him and his efforts on the sites and would appreciate any info on his status.
Some of the most enjoyable work I've done was creating the "Rebel" and "Daisy" characters. If I can do anything in graphics, copy-writing, etc. to help out here, just let me know!
Yee-Ha and Sal-loot!
Sincerely,
Leo (The Old Chopper Guy) in Texas

everything is more fun when there are "old chopper guy"s around. Many thanks Bagga!I'm as friendly a guy as you're likely to meet. However, this bullying on the other site is something no forum can withstand long term. I'm 71, been in outlaw bike clubs, served in the military and around the world and the troll on that site is the WORST, most obnoxious and insulting cretin I have ever encountered. And I have encountered some real losers. I hope he never shows up here. If so, fast action will be needed. Ride safe! I'm glad to back for good!Leo in Texas

i'll tell you something, i have HD motorcycles, i also have scooters, 50 cc hondas and my 250cc yamaha morphous. i visit a scooter site dedicated to the larger scooter crowd. they absolutely hate harleys and everything associated with them. when i called some of them out about it, it would calm down for a while. i bailed out of that mess and don't miss it.

Can you PM me Leo? I just unbanned you and been gone and will find out what's going on. JR JR, Thank you SO much for your call today! I appreciate you unbanning me so I could post a memorial to Doug. He would be VERY unhappy to see what the forum has degenerated to. I'm as friendly a guy as you'll ever find, and got totally blindsided by the unwarranted attacks and insults by "Pistonguy". And, it never ends! He even had to get in one last insult after I was banned. Even though I can access the forum again, I don't intend to be active since even the moderators seem to share the hate... I've been more than told I'm not welcome, and you don't hang around where you're no longer wanted. Thanks again so much for your help, you are a good friend and have been for a decade!Sincerely, Leo

JR, Many thanks! "Pistonguy" could provide so much good advice/encouragement to new members if he could just get over his sarcastic rage.I can see his tech knowledge is current, while all mine is from the late fifties/sixties. Anything earlier than his expertise, he simply doesn't believe and attacks... Back when I had my Harley motor/tranny built by Triangle of Chicago, BIG cubic inches were the way they got speed... They specialized in hand-cast crankcases housing MONSTER stroker cranks, and HUGE turned-steel cylinders. While they DID manage to get well over 1hp per CID, which was impressive back then, it was the TORQUE that got down the quarter-mile fast. All Hog F and FL engines were 74 cubic inches and had bore and stroke of 3.4 inches by 3.9 inches. Generating 9.44 horsepower, and around 30 LB/FT torque. this panhead engine's compression ratio also deviated slightly between the two models. The F's compression ratio was 6.6 to 1 while the FL model's ratio was 7 to 1. My custom cylinders held Chevy 409 pistons (around 4 1/2" bore) with 13:1 compression, and the stroke was a massive 6". So undersquare it was more like a John Deere tractor motor, but it went from around 10 hp (like a Chinese 150) to 256 hp on the dyno, with over 300 lb/ft of torque. It would NOT turn faster than 3,500rpm, but THAT was enough... This is the horse-and-buggy tech that Pistonguy simply can't get his head around, but it DID exist and WOULD get my 350 pound butt down the quarter in 11.5 seconds... OR, 10.5 if you weigh 76 pounds... LOL!I do hope my antagonist will open his mind to such old-school stuff, because it did exist and was a lot of fun! Thanks again, and our prayers are with you for your surgery!Ride safe, and get well FAST! Leo

Some kind of Sociopath. this final incarnation, the bike had a full-on drag motor built by Triangle in Chicago, and all-chromed up. Their own foundry cast the cases and turned the billet stroker-crank and steel jugs. Stock spec's were 3.4" bore and 3.9" stroke. The new motor had a 4.3" bore with Chevy 409 pistons, and a monster 5.5" stroke for a 159.74 CID displacement. Compression was 13.5:1. Steppul's Dyno service in Chicago showed 256hp @ 2,800rpm. Bagga,
This is one of the members on ItIsTheRide who has made it his mission in life to trash me.
At the request of some FRIENDS at the site, I posted a series of pix I found outlining much of my early life, including the entire history of my chopper.
I do NOT know WHY people can't simply ASK a question about something they don't like... I'd be happy to answer.
For 7 decades, I've been able to get along with nearly everybody, but when I unknowingly made enemies at the other forum, I really made enemies for life.
Sad... I've never even met them in person.
Sorry they're dragging their garbage here. Some people are just born to make others miserable...
Ride safe,
Leo

Bagga, Here is a thread I just posted on the other site. I'm posting it here also, for "zippy"s edification. Why would you not ASK a question before attacking someone's character? THIS is an honest question. No sarcasm, just common sense. If you see something in a post you question, why not just ASK...? For example: Hey OCG, how did Triangle double the displacement of a 74? I'd be happy to explain. Hey OCG, neutral-drop starts sound problematical. What mods were made to your tranny to allow that? I'd be happy to explain. Hey OCG, why did you reference a site for specs on the FL and FLH? I'd be happy to explain. This is supposed to be a FORUM... A site where members can be INFORMED. A place where members can share stories, ideas and information without fear of being mercilessly ridiculed... even to "zippy" now dragging the venom onto other forums. If you or any other member has a problem with information posted, it can always be settled peacefully with simple questions and courteous answers. I've never posted anything here that is not factual. Anyone doubting something I post is welcome to have his/her questions personally answered. If post-replies are not adequate, PM me and I'll give you my phone number and gladly speak in detail to address their doubts. There is not one item in any of my posts that I can't explain in five minutes. Courteous Dialog edifies forums. Hateful Diatribe destroys them. For many decades, I've made friends worldwide and gotten along with most everyone, simply being courteous and engaging in truthful dialog. I don't know WHAT I did to make my adversaries here so vicious, but whatever it is, I apologize. However, I will never apologize for being truthful. If you question something I post. Please, just ask a question before launching an attack. I'll be happy to explain. Most sincerely, Leo Squiers Read more: itistheride.boards.net/thread/10733/honest-question-cyborg55-pistonguy-zippy#ixzz5QWTM7HGk

Bagga, This guy "zippy" and also "Q" on this site posted this on ItIsTheRide. He's completely unstable, and it's obvious that there will be very ugly finish to the story. I'm posting this on both sites to make a record of the events he's brought about leading up to the end of the story. In 71 years, I've never encountered anyone this unstable. And all over nothing. He's dangerous and I've been legally advised to take him seriously... I hoped I had left THIS level of idiocy behind fifty years ago when I left the outlaw biker world... My apologies for burdening this site with his trash, but I want a record when it hits the fan. ______________________________________________ 2 hours ago pistonguy said: And in the end. Im comin for ya. Im a real man and I will save any direct character assignation or insults to your face. You your mouth and the 500hp "Little Hamster" to Luna road. Only on Luna road as your Trailer park under DF dub has the largest concentration of Sex offenders in Grapevive Texas.______________________________________________ This is no longer funny. You called me a SOCIOPATH on ScooterRebels and that crossed the line, not only morally but legally. I forwarded that to my attorney and after laughing at the stupidity of it, asked if I'd like to own a business selling pistons. He also advised me take you as a personal threat and act accordingly. Advice duly noted and taken. Now, real man... So you're coming for me and post it on a public forum? At 71, I certainly don't street race except for fun stuff with the locals, I'm too old for hand-to-hand combat anymore, so I assume you want a lethal confrontation. OK. I no longer consider you simply a pest, but a threat to me and my family. THAT is a whole different situation. You've pushed the envelope way beyond what a stable person ever would. I don't know what is wrong with you, hijacking others' posts to start a feud, but YOU started it. YOU escalated it beyond all common sense. I take it seriously. Moderators please take note. This is no longer funny. No smiley faces, no trash talk, no joking. Either muzzle it, or this idiot is bound to pay me a visit, and it's going to end very permanently for one of us. That is fine. But it's not something I encourage or look forward to; just unpleasant business that can't be avoided... nor is this trash fit for a family-friendly public forum. Leo PS: for the record, you once again got it wrong (about the car). Lil' Rhonda is downtuned to 256hp as I've also mentioned in past posts. However, you do have it right about the sex offenders in my park. I've checked that out too. Congratulations on getting something right. and I'll gladly deal with them every time over dealing with your kind.
