there's a motorcycle swap meet here next weekend, that's something i haven't thought of. reflectors are going on the list.

Reflectors ARE the bomb... But on an original jacket/belt like yours, they "jus' gotta be originals"... The smooth "cat's eye" or other no-facet ones are the classiest, but faceted ones are OK if they're original glass.
Brings back childhood memories of legendary bunches like the Gypsy Jokers, Booze Fighters, etc. Back BEFORE the Hells Angels and such went REALLY bad.
You can find original reflectors on eBay, but they're getting VERY pricey. Hope you can find some at the swap-meets! Just like your clusters of tail-lights, they're irresistible!
Ride safe!

i don't care if i find anything or not at the swap meet, i just go with my friends. we have breakfast, BS some there then hit the meet. once there you run into other guys you haven't seen in awhile, add more BS with them. the venue is the local ballroom used for weddings and small concerts. it's the location of the last show buddy holly played before he and some of his band members were killed in a plane crash.

Bagga,
I'm old enough to remember that plane crash. So sad, I guess as a kid I missed "The Big Bopper" just as much. Different times, a whole different country.
Sounds like your gatherings at the ballroom is some good times! Enjoy!

some of the guys i go to the swap meet with, i have known for almost 50 years. the last time they had it there, there was 1 guy there with a table full of take off rice bike exhaust junk. everybody i talked to was pissed because you pay your admission fee, walk in and see that crap. absolutely nothing else you would expect at something geared toward an HD crowd.

ocg, did you ever post a pic of those lights you have? the yellow and red ones you spoke of awhile back? you were thinking about putting them on your scoot. what did you call them? Never did... They are 1920's vintage "Bolzer" originally meant to put on the fender tops of cars/trucks. They were 6V with a red beehive lens on one end and amber on the other, lit by one bulb. The center is a black painted steel band. The lenses are similar in appearance to the single-lens beehive lights we used on our bikes, but a tad larger. The pair I got are rotten inside and rusty outside... LOL! I figured to clean out the inside, install 12V LED light, and refinish the steel center housing. I'll have to find them and take a pic... They are right in character for an old-school bike and I'd like to put them on the scooter if I can ever find time to restore them... They are cool in that they have both front and rear visibility, red rear and amber front. Check eBay for "Bolzer" and "Bolser" and you'll probably find some for reference. Ride safe! Leo

my 85 V2 with the S&S carb i picked up. i'm surprised how that carb woke the old girl up. [attachment id="912" thumbnail="1" Bagga, It's AMAZING what improved carburetion can do! I love how modern fuel-injected cars run, and I suppose modern FI bikes are similar... Great performance, great mileage and easy starting in all weather. For a while, I ran a Sportster diaphragm carb on "Old Blue". Not sure why Harley went with a pumper carb usually reserved for 2-strokes, but it was not any improvement on a bored-out Harley Linkert carb... Yeah, I think Hogs had those stone-age carbs from way back in the 30's through the late fifties... Crude, archaic but with some tweaking they ran great. This was long before the good stuff from S&S... Tech was SO crude back then it's a wonder we got our bikes to run as quick as we did... But... They gave only around 12 mpg... NOT fun with a 1-gal. peanut tank... We spent most of our riding looking for gas stations! As old-school as I am, I'm finally realizing the new stuff is mighty sweet... IF you can afford it... LOL!

i see in a different thread where you're sitting on your chopper and it looks like you're rocking a kidney belt. here's mine..... i made them. i wear the brown one with the old school HD oak leaf logo. the red one has over 2000 hammer strikes to make the basket weave pattern.

Nice work, Bagga! When riding a hard-tail Harley, a kidney belt is a VERY good idea... Actually, any bike rides pretty harsh compared to most cars, and a kidney belt is a good idea on any extended ride. Also, they are just plain "old-school cool"... A great place to decorate with vintage silver initials, reflectors, etc. The belt I'm wearing in the sixties pic if I recall, is actually a Harley Davidson branded one I bought before getting my HD leather jacket. I honestly am not sure after all these years. Sure did hold my guts in though... LOL! Enjoy using and showing off those great belts!Leo
