Bagga,
Great video! I haven't been on the net for a while. My PC took a dump... OK now!
Thanks for posting! Is it just me, or are we about the only guys active on the site lately? C'mon guys and gals, we need some life here...
Ride safe, and ride when you can this winter!

for the first time in 15 nights the temperature stayed above 0. it's been cold here and we could use some of that "global warming" i've been hearing about.

Guess you'll have to talk to Al Gore about that... I think he dreamed it up soon after he invented the Internet... LOL! It's been too cold here to ride too, staying below freezing for nearly two weeks. THAT is really unusual for this area. This week it's supposed to warm up some. I need new plates on my car, so maybe I can ride the old mouse to the DMV and circulate her juices a little... Stay warm! Leo

Oh, Bagga...
Memories, MEMORIES! It's the exact same jacket I wore on Old Blue, all my other bikes through my last 1970 Electra Glide!
YES! It IS horsehide. The HD Cycle Champ to me, is THE iconic biker jacket of all time (though many would argue for other great leather). The Cycle Champ's big selling point (other than the genuine HD brand) was the horsehide... Many times more durable than the finest cowhide.
I don't know how long they were made. I bought mine in 1962 and they were made long before that. I paid a WHOPPING $115 which is around a grand today! But, after all, they WERE the only "life insurance" we could purchase... LOL! I would guess they were probably made in their original form from around 1950 to 1970 but that's only a guess.
Newer ones had cheaper zippers, less features and probably NOT horsehide.
As a funny side note, my current car, a 2004 Honda Accord UEX which was originally delivered as a racer, features a full leather interior, but... passenger seat and rear seats are soft, supple cowhide, but the driver's seat is stiff, hard TOUGH HORSEHIDE... A truly unique variant! Not so luxurious but really DURABLE! That leather is so stiff, it barely needs any stuffing beneath... LOL!
Enjoy that jacket! I think it's older than you surmise, and probably will last forever! Every Hog jockey dreams of a jacket like that!
Ride safe, stay warm!

PS: If you paid any less than $500 you got a bargain! If you paid $1,000 or more, you got your money's worth!

Bagga,
SWEET! I gave mine to my ex son-in-law years back, complete with my Chicago Rolling Lords colors, "Prez" patch, HD factory visitor badge and all sorts of priceless memorabilia... He and my daughter got divorced and he sold it for $2-grand as I understand... Cheesh!
Hope this one fits you, it will be a treasure forever!
Ride safe,
Leo

i almost passed on it because it was real dry and pretty stiff. i greased it up with this www.pecard.com/product/motorcycle-leather-dressing/ . i tried it on but it was too small for me but i thought it would fit my son. after i oiled it up it really softened it up. i bought it because i figured i would never get another chance at another one. there's no pin holes or any patches on it and now it looks like it just came off the hanger at the dealer. the leather dressing is made locally and it's all i ever use on all my leather stuff.

Bagga,
I remember how STIFF that horsehide on mine was when new! It made me walk like a robot... LOL! Softer IS better!
What a treat for your Son if it fits! "Wild One" Marlon Brando eat yer' heart out! Mine was plenty BIG... I weighed over 350 at the time... EEEWWWW! That chopper was so fast she'd pass anything but a pizzeria with me aboard... LOL!
Ride safe,
Leo

Your Son has a TREASURE there! But hey, the kidney belt is a "must-have"... LOL! Even better if decorated with period "cat's eye" glass reflectors!
What a find, what a gift!
Ride safe,
Leo
