I was wondering if anyone's ever done a compression test on their 257 cc Linhia engine ? I did mine today after only 7,000 miles and I only got about 135 psi on a cold compression test. I would have done it motor warm like I am supposed to. But I have had bad experiences messing with aluminum spark plug holes while they are hot. I do engines cold now and still get a pretty good base line compression reading IMO. Seems kinda low to me for a fairly fresh engine though. Any feedback anyone ?

my zodiac as about same cc's Myself when new it had 165 psi now with 5,000 miles 165 my question is did you do a compression new to use a base line? 2 how often do you change oil'what kind do you use? are you using compression gauge right if you are maybe check you valves for right gap.

I am not sure what the specs are for this motor but it sounds good enough for it to run. Does it burn oil?

It runs fine. I broke in right by the book. I use 20-50 Castrol fossil. have for 35 years with excellent results. And no, I never did a compression test when new. So no base line. Oh... And oil change every 1000 or so miles. Oil always looks almost new when draining crank case for oil change. Guess I just got a weak motor off the assembly line.

Update, Just did a warm compression test with loaned comp gauge from Oreiley's . I got 132-135 psi again. My comp tester must be correct I guess. Then did wet test and it bounced up to 150 psi. So my take is rings have some wear and valves might be slightly leaking. And I believe Crawford is right when he said I should have about 165 lbs psi engine in good shape.

Maybe it's time for a valve adjustment

I think your oil should have be 10-40 or 15-40

That is what I'm gonna do. After I find out why I have no spark I'm gonna change my oil to at least 15-40 if not 20-50 Castrol.
