In recent years the factoriez have been shipping them so they run lean to pass smog regs, so it may indeed be good to upjet a little.

Carb jet numbers from one brand or style of carb done compare Some measure flow some are by hole size and others use a formula of the two I would be ready to do some plug reads and see if you need to go up or down with the jet size Lean is fast and terminal on the engine rich is slow and safe you will foul plugs out faster being rich but it saves your engine Belive it or not a good chunk of your cooling is from the incoming fuel charge
You can't just cap the over flow off

Just to clarify besides having a leaking carb, which was not the carb, it was a broken drain hose, i decided to buy a new carb anyway cause my scoot has a hard start since i bought it and it was getting worse. so buying a new carb would fix 2 problems (drain hose and hard start issue)...when i got home today from work, i put in the new main jet (108) on my new carb just to get a head start, im off tomorow from work so you know what that means, time to work on the scoot, besides installing my carb and fuel line, i noticed that my fuel line did not have a decline angle so i will be rerouting the fuel line and aligning the fuel filter and fuel pump in a decline for better gas flow

Just a few more repairs and you will be a GY6 expert. Do a big bore kit and a variator tuning and you will have covered most anything mechanical on your scooter.

Bad News:: i knew i shouldnt have tried and be mr. mechanic, so i install the new carb today and the fuel line yesterday then when i try and start my scoot today, ITS NOT STARTING ? i noticed that the gas has reached the fuel filter but very little and the fuel hose that connects with the carb has no gas in it at all, could this be a vacuum issue, im so frustrated rite now, it has a brand new f***ing carb. I tried starting it about 5 times plus one of the times i tried it the battery seemed slow. so now, i have a battery issue?

now the scooter started (yay) but the idle seems high (4000 rpms) and the wheel is spinning like crazy...

Question:: where does the rpms have to be when its idle, my wheel starts spinning at 3000 rpms, the wheel STOPS spinning at 2700 rpms, should i leave it at 2700 or i heard that the normal rpms is at 2000 rpms for a scoot, which one is it?? i made a video

Dont know what happened but when the scoot did not want to start after i installed the carb, i went to my computer to do further research and then when i came back (20 mins later) the fuel line had gas in it? then it started. ok so i managed to adjust my idle mix and speed screws, i put my idle speed at 2000 rpms and i played with the mixture screw, i went all the way to the right and it bogged then went all the way to the left and it also bogged so when i got to the middle it sounded right and the idles went alittle higher so that was the perfect point. Anyway, I DID IT ! AND IT FEELS GREAT !!! saved money on installing a new carb and re-placing and re-routing the fuel line. ran into some bumps but i still did it. next project will be either to replace battery or starter

Changing the air/fuel mixture can change the rmps also.
