was scanning through here and noticed that there were a few unanswered questions about blocking off the electric choke.
the electric choke works when electricity is applied and it creates a magnet inside the choke on the carb. this in turns pulls the plunger up allowing fuel to flow up through the carb. you cant just pull the choke off and cap it 'cause then the carb will always be in "choke mode"
now if you want t to junk the choke it will make cold starts a little harder but at least you wont have the piece of crap hanging off the side of the carb. there is a REAL simple way to block it off.
WITH THE CHOKE STILL ON (if someone had already removed it skip down to next section)
1. remove the choke by unplugging it and then removing the 2 screws holding it in.
2. if you look closely you will see a little spring and plunger attached to it.
3. remove spring and plunger and place back in carb
4. take a nickel yes a five cent piece and apply gasket sealant to one side of the coin (it just needs to be about 1/8 of an inch wide, from the edge, and just a thin layer)
5. place the nickel (sealant side down) over the spring and re-attach the choke hold down plate.
now your done
WITH A MISSING CHOKE
1. if the choke retainer plate is still on remove it.
2. take a carburator vacume block off nipple (you know those little nipples that range in colors that push on
over unused vacume ports for carburators.) anyway you need a RED one and put it in the choke hole
with the opening of the nipple upwards.
3. make sure it is pressed all the way down in the opening.
4. take a nickel yes a five cent piece and apply gasket sealant to one side of the coin (it just needs to be about 1/8 of an inch wide, from the edge, and just a thin layer)
5. place the nickel (sealant side down) over the spring and re-attach the choke hold down plate.
now your done
this is what I have done on several ATVs and scooters if I am wrong correct me or delete the post
