I must apologize first off for being gone for a while. Between my scoot being broken and loosing my house it has been stressful and I have been to say at the very least indifferent with the world LOL.
Also I have been working with Taiwan on busting fake parts people.
Fake parts can be bad for your bike. Lets take a roller for example. The material might be softer and or have burs that have not been removed through the manufacturing process. One roller might ware significantly more than others causing a malfunction. #1. This can cause damage to your scoot. #2. this makes the REAL manufacturer look bad, get haters on forums and they loose money. It is bad all around for us.
I was recently involved with Taiwan in a sting so to say, I guess. They had me buy fake parts and send them to Taiwan for analysis.
Most if not all parts (MRP, Dr. Pulley and others) are made in China, then labeled with the company name for sale here in the US.
Here is a clue. Look at the package or part. If it says Dr. Pulley, made in China, it might be fake. If it says made in Taiwan it is more than likely legit.
Granted Taiwan is a province of China the package might still say China and it could be legit.
I am learning more about this as I work with Taiwan. It has happened to me and I was blessed enough to get an offer to help them.
Watch out for Ebay sellers. Most are fake parts. The people here should know who to trust.
I can't say anything about who the fake part guy was until he is proven for a fact to be a fake part seller.
Spend the extra money if you are not sure! I will save you money in the long run and you will be a happier person.
