hey, this is my first post on the forum so thanks in advance for any help i can get.
im making a bare minumum wiring harness for my 139qmb scooter. no starter, no battery, nothing that it doesnt need to run, other than a headlight and brake light. basically, just magneto, stator, CDI, coil/spark plug, and auto-choke(until i find a cheap way to do a manual choke setup)
since i have an AC cdi(came on the scooter), i realize i dont need a battery for the bike to run. im perfectly ok with kickstarting this thing. my only question is, do i need any other components other than what i listed, and the proper connectors and some wire. do i need to have the voltage regulator or anything of the sort for any reason?
what im pretty much asking is: is there any write-up/thread already posted of what im trying to do?(and yes, i already searched the site) and if not, can someone let me know if im completely wrong, and possibly the proper way to make a harness that doesnt require a battery, with all components necessary for it to run properly. Thanks! -Tedd

I am not your man for this job, but, I have read that if you do this you will have problems with either the CDI or the regulator not holding up. From what I understand you need at least a dead battery in there for the power to go to because the stator puts too much out for it to just not have a place to go.

No battery or even a dead one will burn up the regulator/rectifier and the stator

My Chinese scooter was bought new by me its done 6331 ks and ive never had to kick start it yet. In fact its broken I think Pupils from a high school close to the shopping mall tried to steal my scooter It chewed up a plastic shim that i hope to replace with a wavy washer
