Yes, they do keep track of the fact you have insurance here now and they will suspend the tags on it if you let it laps. If you do not get the insurance be sure to put it on a non op because if you do not the fees can go up fast and get to be more than buying a new scooter.

Yes its still A motorcycle and you need your m1 Wow ! I am the last to know . I do have a M License . 49 CC is less then the 50cc and above for motor cycle , ( used to be ) Is this something new ? I know they need tax dollars ... but that Plate fee is $10 Less than a Vehicle Plates . And thousands of LBs less Regardless , i will take care of it Monday . Thank You for the info . Eatme

Actually there is Only two classes of bikes 149 cc adn lower are motor driven cycles 150 cc and up is a motorcycle
For some time ca has treated sit down 50 as motorcycles Stand up scooters are diffrent

Where I live (in Vermont) anything 49cc or lower is a motor driven cycle and you only need a class C (regular car license) to ride it. Anything 50cc and above is considered a motorcycle and you need a motorcycle endorsement on your license for that.

California requires it to have pedals an not be able to go over 30 miles an hour or you need a MC endorsement.
