Since this is the general forum area I have a question.....what in the heck can I use to take the hard water spots off shower faucets? Have you found anything that works....do you care??? LOL I have tried WD-40 and it doesn't work. I was doing laundry and thought I would suprise the wife with a spot free faucets in the bathroom and started cleaning but ran into that little problem. Thanks for reading....I hate to sound like Rachel Ray or someone like that lol.

Vinegar works, you need to let it soak like over night, You can also try a cheap brand of soda. On a mild water spot a wipe of a vinegar soaked cloth might do it.
Commercial products like Lime Away work well, I once used a product called EdFred. The hard water deposits are indeed a lime deposit, and an acid based cleaner works for that. Vineger is an acid as is soda pop.

I tried vinegar and soda mixed to a paste, it works. I am going to hit it again tomorrow, I had to work on a leaf blower this afternoon but the vinegar route works, it's cheap also.

if your hard water stains are lime based then products like limeaway vinegar the works toilet cleaner and muriatic acid but remember these are acids and will eventually eat the finish off what ever you are trying to clean
if you are mixing baking soda with your acid you are actually neutralizing it is a base
the best cure for hard water stains is prevention so treating your water ahead of time
