It is a 2011 Just recently I was rideing it and it would not start.I tryed to start it with my electric starter like normal and it would not start so I tryed my kick starter and after about 5 times it started and ran normal.I then rode it to the store about 3 miles away and when I came out of the store.I tryed to start it with my electric starter like always and it would not start so I kicked started it again and it started up and I rode it home 1 mile and a half. The next day it started with my electric starter.I went to my sisters house 2 miles away.I then went to the store again and when I came out it would not start so I tryed kick starting it.Over and over to many times to count but it would not start so I had to push it home.totaly sucked.I did not see and loss in power trough these problems.Oh I forgot to mention I filled my tank up really high before all this happend I never filled my tank up this high.It was all the way to the gas cap.Not sure what the problem is ,but would really appreciate if some one could help me out in this forum.Thank You.

sounds like a electrical prob another elect gremlin i am NOT a mech
i would try to check starter button and then work my way, to CDI, then to Plug, and if u still havent found the prob go from CDI to magneto
then again it since it starts sometimes it could be a bad ground{or other wire} connection. it could also be the little brake switch, that clicks in when u pull the brake handles, to allow it to start.
ARE you getting spark on BOTH the engine and the ground spot?
electrical probs are the worse. my magneto/stator died last Jan. had to check everything with multimeter from start button back all the way to the magneto. hope your good with a multimeter!!!
wait untill the mechs wake up and see if they tell u any different. good luck

Welcome to the forum.
A little more info please. When you try the electric starter does the motor crank over? If you have the tank so full the vent can not work take the cap off and see if it starts. You don't have the kill switch in the kill position do you? Are you getting spark to the plug? Is the fuel filter plugged. do you have fuel getting to the carb even if the filter is not plugged.

I took the fuel cap off and tryed to start it no luck, the filter was on backwards so I turned it around tryed it did not work ,took out the spark plug dose not look that great. Also some one told me to put my finger over the spark plug hole and turn over the engine and if it pushes your finger off your compression is good.I did that could feel compression but did not push my finger off.not even sure it is a legitament test.Ok How can I tell if it is not getting gas and I think I am going to buy a new spark plug.do you have and suggestions on good spark plugs.and can I use 50cc parts and up on my tao 49cc.When I do a search for parts on my 49cc all I get is 50cc and up mostly.

OK before you get a new plug, do this. Take it and plug the wire back on it and then lay it in the motor where it is touching metal. Now turn the key and crank it, you should be able to see spark going across the gap between the electrodes on the plug, if you do your ignition system is work OK. A good plug to use would include a NGK C7HSA. The compression test you did is a classic shade tree test, you may be able to hold your finger on it with a 50cc motor but a bigger one would be more challenge. IF you felt a strong push you may be OK on compression. Testing for gas, well most of these have a vacuum valve at the bottom of the tank that opens when the motor is running and then gas goes into the carb. So if that valve is bad you are going to have trouble with getting gas to the motor. Do you have a clear fuel filter? if so you should see gas in it, you could take the bowel off of the carb and see if gas is in there, Yuo can also spray some starter fluid into the intake and see if it stats up, if it does a fuel problem MAY exists. There is some very good information here (click here)

Oh, if a plug is fouled or no good should you see no spark Well you might get a fouled plug to spark if you took some sand paper to the electrodes and cleaned them, if it is wet you can heat it up with a propane torch or perhaps a gas stove or bar-b-que flame and burn the wet off of it. as stated above it would be good to check your valve gap.

Valve lash has nothing to do with spark at the plug.
