I have a question about CDI units on scooters. If your CDI unit is not working can that cause your spark plug not to work or spark' does it have any thing to do with spark.

Yup, a dead CDI means no spark will get to the plug.

Welcome to rebels forum
FIGURE OUT IF YOU HAVE A AC OR DC SYSTEM cdi,
if lights only come on when bike motor is runing most likely AC
go to
scooterrebels.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=tvnacman
and get a cdi
ALSO, you may also have a fouled plug after all that kick starting, get a iridium plug
tighten bolts on the selenode, just follow the red wire comming off battery to a small round box that has 2 thin wires and 2 big fat ones that lead to the starter motor.
as well check your connection to your coil, make sure the 2 wires going to it are tight.
and check your spark cap, better yet just get a whole new coil, plug wire and cap from THIS GUY--
scooterrebels.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=tvnacman
all that starting did not help the battery, charge it.
run low test GAS , mid and high test are just "spark retardent" for high compression heads, with your oil and gas mix you are already spark retardent safe most times.
clean the filter OUT of autumn dust, also this change in tempeture can change tuning of bike carb , lower humidity means more oxegen, you may be starting too lean, ask about AF screw a maybe a bigger jet
most important thing is learn the bikes external systems, get real patient about learning that and it will slowly be a good friend.
come back here and ask questions, we only learn by asking questions.
And welcome to rebels forum, nicest place on the net.
BE SAFE OUT THERE, RIDE WISE AND PROTECTIVE
