I've been fooling around with a solution to the problems I've had with a non standard carb. and manifold on a 150cc GY6. None of the after market carbs. or manifolds seem to fit properly. I've always thought that a downdraft carb. might be the solution to my problems, however it has been hard to find a inexpensive downdraft card. Keihins and Mikunis run in the hundreds of dollars. Excellent carbs. no doubt, but way to much to spend on a GY6. My answer was in a Yamaha 250 V twin clone. Vento calls it a Pony. It's kinda looks like an old Honda Rebel. A 26mm downdraft Carb. that can be had for less than a 150 bucks and it has an excellerator pump. I had to make a short manifold by hand to fit it on the engine. Here's where I mocked it up to see how it would run. This is on my daily driver 155cc, 59mm bore commute scooter. Here's a short video of it running. It did very well with a 35 pilot and a 120 main jet. My cameras speaker really sucks for audio so all you can hear is the intake sucking air. I wouldn't waste the cash or the labor on a relatively stock 150cc but if you had it bored and stroked in the 180ish range. You might consider it. RD

Thanks, BTW they still build the Honda Rebel. They do? That is a lot of years for a production run. I wonder what the first year was?

Well I have an '86 450cc Rebel, it was only made in 86-87, the 250 started in 84 I think. At one time it was made in a 125cc version also, just not sold in the USA. Current price on a new one is at $4200.00 powersports.honda.com/2012/rebel.aspx

Downdraft refers to the direction of airflow.

Don't ever become a pessimist. A pessimist is correct oftener than an optimist, but an optimist has more fun, and neither can stop the march of events.
Cool stuff ROCKET ,,,sounds like tom jefferson
