Picked up a 03 Zuma at the junkyard nonrunning in horrible shape with the entire CVT rusted and frozen up. After lots of cleaning, scrubbing, and time it is starting to look a lot better. Order some parts today from yahama including an air filter and got a temporary belt on ebay so i can ride until I replace the entire CVT then I will get an OEM yamaha belt. Here is a link to all the pictures of my progress so far I created an album so I didnt have to upload them 1 at a time lol imageshack.us/g/210/image717d.jpg/Attachments:

LOL its not tiny and weighs about as much as the rest of the scooter. It looks terrible when I first brought it home. Been cleaning it up without spending any money. All I have bought so far is a 5 dollar can of spray paint and a 3 dollar pack of 220 grit sandpaper. The black molded abs plastic I used a heatgun on to restore thal crude off EVERYTHING. I used concetrated purple power and a stiff bristle brush. The worst part was the fact that the entire CVT was corroded and covered in rust like the entire motor had been under water or something.

Thanks Rebel. Once I get it looking good with all the missing cosmetic parts replaced I will start the engine upgrades starting with the CVT and carbon reeds. Not sure if I wanna do a BBK just yet but when/if I do it will be a 70cc kit, possibly an arreche carb and a leo vince zx pipe Preferly a used carb and pipe to save a few bucks lol Dont really wanna upgrade till this top end is worn out

Looks like you got the vinyl stretched pretty smooth on the seat.

I almost got the vinyl perfect but i have 4 creases i couldnt get rid of 2 in the back and 2 in the front corners. It is almost impossible to do a one piece cover without having any so no big deal. I worked as an upholstry apprentice some years ago not only regular furniture but I built a lot of boat seats so I am pretty good at vinyl stretching. I paid 200 for the scooter superdave and have spent MAYBE 25 dollars in restoration supplies...2 cans of Krylon Fusion spraypaint about 10 bucks, 4 bucks on a gallon of purple power, 3 bucks on a pack of 220 grit sandpaper, 2 on a roll of painters tape which I didnt use, and 5 on the vinyl for the seat. The rest of the stuff like screws and expoxy I already had on hand

Last night a severe thunderstorm ripped up a 200 year old oak in the front yard and also blew my Zuma over, I braved the cloud to ground lightning to get it off the ground and parked it in front of the house. Luckily no damage was done. Checked it again this morning and some gas had spilled out of the tank causing the new paint job to bubble around the edge of where the seat is I guess its better a little damaged paint than busted up plastics and broken mirrors. At any rate went to the junkyard and salvaged a master cylinder and caliper from a eton beamer, perfect match except the brake switch had 2 ends instead of a plastic connector. Now I have front disk brakes working great

I've never had good luck with rattle can paint holding up to a gas spill. I was told at a automotive paint store that they could get some in for me that would hold up but it was way expensive.
