hey guys, i want to run a stock carb, but my scoot never came with a airbox (bought as a project), is there an air filter i can use that will let me not have to rejet my carb? its a custom setup, so the stock airbox cant be mounted as typical, my carb is flipped 180 degrees.

nope you either have to upjet the carb for more air flow that means pilot needle and main all need to be adjusted or use extra tubeing so you can run a stock air box
the reason you need to upjet is good chunk of your cooling comes from the incomeing air/fuel charge

Without the proper air fuel mix you'll be burning a valve.
Theoretically I guess you could make an air box out of something but tuning it to you scooter would be a lot harder than installing a bigger jet.

yeah, i've tried changing out jets and what not, i think now i have a 45 pilot and something like a 108 main or something, i really havent looked at the scooter lately as it needs a battery. i have a cone filter on there, (one that sells with a metal dome cover) but cant seem to get it running right at all. frustrating to say the least.
this motor was a EGR head, but i swapped on a head from a non egr scooter, seems like im leakin some oil too. I just have ALL kinds of issues, LOL. or atleast the exhaust pipe is cookin for sure. not sure if its lean. or if its someting else, (need to check plug again)
i just wish someone would be able to say "with this filter, use this jet(s)." but its always.. "they are all different so ya gotta figure it out.... "

Well you could just dump the carb and put fuel injection on it.
