Been awhile since I've posted, figured it's time to get my scoot running; and I'm hoping for some advice of those more learned than I am. My scoot is a 2007 Baron VLA 150, with less than 1000k miles. Originally it would start, and die out almost immediately. After doing some research I figured the enricher had failed, especially since it felt HOT after trying to start her up. Long story short, I bought a new enricher, installed it, and same problem. I've opened the carb up, cleaned it out, and am pretty sure it's not clogged up or anything. The diaphragm looked to be okay. At a bit of a loss, maybe the enricher I got is no good? Should I risk buying a new one, or say the heck with it and get a new carb. Thanks in advance!!!! -- Chris

i would clean the tank, the lines, the filter. then i would check all vacum lines then i would squirt just a bit of gas into the intake manifold nipple and see what happens then

Thanks for the reply, I've checked the tank, vacuum lines, and even bypassed the filter. I haven't tried squirting a little gas in the carb, I'll try that in the morning!

Before you jump into buying another choke, here are a couple pages from the manual about checking it out. Attachments:

Then there are a few other things to check. If you are fairly sure it is a fuel supply problem, check the fuel filter, the vacuum petcock valve, then loosen the cap on the tank to see if it has a vent problem. Bits of plastic have been found in the tanks and can block the fuel line.

Thanks Rebel, that's a huge help! I hope it does help. That manual and others are available to download if you look at the link in my signature line.

Will do, I'll check the manuals out, again, that's a huge help. I've checked the petcock, and even have a spare 'cause it's been a problem before (on another scoot) and it seems to be working. My fuel filter is clear, and I can see gas in it. Maybe my float is stuck? Anyway, thanks again. I'll get it running, it's just a matter of finding the time!!!

Got a little time with my scoot today, checked the enricher (thanks Rebel) according the manual, and it looks to be okay. It will start right up, run for 10-15 seconds and die out. After it died (a couple times!) I pulled the plug and it was pretty wet with gas, seems like it's flooding out? Guess I'm going to have to get deeper into the carb. Did some reading in the manuals, when setting your float height, they give a measurement; 18.5mm. What exactly are you measuring? The float when it's closed I assume, but measure from where exactly is my question? The thing that puzzles me still is this was a perfectly running scoot a month ago! Thanks for listening to my ranting

Take the float out and put it in a jar of gas and see if it floats, it may have gone bad. If it has soaked up some gas it will not float and the bowel will over fill, gas will run into the intake and foul the plug. If the float has one side that sinks it is just as bad as if it has both sides sink.
