it is attached to the by starter..I think. I thought it was part of the carb..may still be. It was mentioned in the service manual under the by starter "un and reinstall" section about a "lock nut". Im gonna guess thats the word for it. It "is the" or part of the retainer for the the "choke" mechanism. it threads into a hole and holds it in place.

Well been looking for a while for a carb that may work. The 50 and 80 cc version carbs are sooo close. I figured I would post a couple pics of mine and see what you guys think. This is the orfice for the choke.. Attachments:

And this is actually the right pic..the other was the other side. The numbers on the carb itself reads as PB (on the very edge of the flange corner) then 02BCVK. It is a keihin carb but I have not been able to find jet size etc. Im just going to try and find a new carb but am super rusty at that one. The only lead I have is the Mukuni vm-20. seems to be the one. Side note, how the Aero 50 is soo close but doesnt work...no idea. Thanks guys. Attachments:

I would think that if you could find a same size carb and can move the jets over to the new one it would work.

I am probably going to do that, I just dont know what size it actually is haha. Workin on that. The marks on the carb I have not been able to figure out what they mean. mean time, I found a by starter for another carb, I read you can modify it to fit. not perfect but close.

Just an update. I have found a temporary bandaid for the by starter issue..it works but am still tweaking it. I found this by starter.. www.scrappydogscooters.com/COMMON_PARTS.html Its the first one on the list "fits most Hondas and "others etc" not that one lower down for the CVK's. That one does not work. 25 bucks gone:( I couldnt find a direct link.. Right now more of a matter of finding how deep into the opening it has to sit and needle profile. But initial setup:) whittled down the end and rewired it..sealed it with an o-ring..gave a little room to go up or down depending on the o-ring size..Started first rev after filling the float bowl..stumbles off idle. If anyone can help or is interested I can elaborate:) I just took it up only because I hate it when the part doesnt exist haha.. I have a vm-20 carb that is here tomorrow and eventually will go on, I hope. I am indebted to you all..I have a day off and a running scooter.. I will be back ;D

I rode that thing for three hours yesterday. I had a blast:)- I put it through its paces the best I know how. The modified by starter worked nearly flawlessly, I wouldnt have called that one at all. It is a viable fix for at least this carb. Since the starter is no longer available, at 10 bucks a 2 dollar file + oring and a zip tie haha. Ghetto but fabulous works sometimes. Anyone that has a bad bystarter on this scooter can make it work for cheap. The needle profile is bit richer than normal, but a couple carb tweaks (air screw mostly) runs like a top. Ive worked on cars professionally for years, never had this much fun..little scooter with a bright yellow dirtbike helmet gets a lot of looks.

This is the heart of what made her "scoot" without spending a bunch. A part that no one makes anymore but I found that this one works. BTW... horrible pic. I will take better pics and post them, including a drawing I will be working on to illustrate it in more detail. Attachments:
