This is strange! When at low speeds, the motor makes a whissing sound when I let off the throttle. It almost sounds like a belt going bad in a car.
Any ideas?

You could be hearing the drive belt. When new some make strainge noises. It could be a small vacuum leak from one hoses. These things are hard to diagnose when a person can't be right there listening for it them self.

Yup,that's a hard call. But I'm with felliot, belt or vacume leak tops thelist, gear train backlash in the rear is also a consideration...checked or changed you lube lately?

Thanks guys for the suggestions. The gear oil is fresh but I have some new sounds coming from the head as well. I can't tell if the valves are not seating properly, bad cam bearing, who knows. In this vid you can clearly hear this rattling sound coming from the head.
Let me know what ya think.

Well I heard it and I think I'd first check the valve lash and also check for an exhaust leak. If you can get an automotive stethascope you can listen around the motor and find the loudest area to localize the sound. You can even use a long screw driver and just put the handle on your forehead and the blade around the motor to get an idea, the sound transmits through you bones pretty well. Skull to ears is pretty good actually.

Valve lash or Clearance/Gap is .004. Unless lash is different.
The bike racer did the srew driver thing and it definately comes from the valve cover.
What do you think?

If it is coming from the valve cover, it has to be a top end problem. Did you happen to use a 1p57 motor and big bore parts for a 157, no "P"? They come very close to being the same but not quite right, I understand it gives a cam problem if you use a standard 150cc kit on a 1P motor.

Did you remember to releive the tension on the cam chain tightenner when installing?
1 point I've been meaning to ask, you referred to it in severral posts, so I thought maybe a misprint, then you referenced it in the video....59.9mm BBK ?
I've heard of and or seen, 58.5, 59, 61, 62, & 63mm kits....but can you shed some light on this 59.9?

The kit for model is a good idea. I mean Rebel could be right about running a 1P kit on a regular non emission Gy6. I have read that the cylinder height is less on the 1P. Might be a tooth off on cam timing. That valve clearance sounds way off.

Hmmm I put a 61mm on a P and got a ever so slight valve/ piston contact The kit was for a standard QMJ My case was stamped 1PQMJ, but measured the same as a standard A true P has a taller head Carlos (autotech355) who I got my kit from, insisted that I needed the kit specifically for the P engine with the taller head, Till I sent him pics of parts with calipers on them He had never heard of a P engine that measured like mine I have 2 of them Gonna resolve the issue with either a 1mm spacer, or 3 base gaskets I'll let ya'll know when I have time to put back 2gether

Started openning up Doug's 1P57 yesterday.... something just didn't look right. Got the dial calipers out, yup, short 157 head! No 1P57 head here. I don't know what's going on, but "plug and play" just hit the toilet for a bunch of guys. I'll still stock the big valve 1P head, as I'm sure I'll have a need for it one day. But it looks as though the numbers on the cases are oing to be of NO help at all, when assembling parts. Tear downs, and identifications are gonna be madatory, as are complete fitting and adjustment during assembly.... The 1fiddy world of mods just got even more interesting. Better start measuring deck heights, as well as piston to valve clearances guys... something is/has changed in China, and even Carlos has gotten wind of it yet..... Dial indicators, degree wheels, modelling clay, and plati-gage at the ready men!

So Kliff, are to saying that motor is really a 157, not a P?
I'm gonna start another thread on the differences between the two, so as to not take this one too far off topic.
